Given he has never held elected office, or been a general, his chances seem slim to none.
I believe 9 (could be 8, saw the list on another thread), of our Presidents never held an elected office. That’s pretty substantial, and many, many Americans are tired of politics as usual.
What's the difference between never having held elective office and never fulfilling the duties of the one someone is elected to. Ten minutes as Ill. state senator before being elected to the US Senate and fifteen minutes later running for POTUS, voting "present" all along the way.

Well, the fact that he (Cain)has never held elected office is a plus in my book. Concerning his never having been a general, being that I only made it to a mere Speedy-Four, I'm not that crazy about generals either. As I recall, bad things happened whenever a general came on the scene :)
