Palin's Withdrawal Means Obama Wins
American Thinker ^ | October 8, 2011 | Robert Eugene Simmons Jr.

Unfortunately, it looks like the forces of smear, slander, and threat have finally claimed their intended victim. With Palin's announcement that she won't run for president, the election is essentially over.

The calculus is fairly simple: the media and GOP establishment want Romney to be the nominee. Once a progressive is at the head of the Republican ticket, low turnout for Republicans will hand a narrow victory to Obama.

So here is how the election will go. The media hasn't seriously opened up on Herman Cain, but most assuredly they will. Cain has been in business for decades, and the liberal media will troll through every relationship, every business deal, every word he has ever spoken. If that fails, the lies will start. To see evidence of this, we need not look at far as Palin. Rick Perry, another progressive, was attacked for something that someone painted on a rock on land his family leased out. That narrative will be used to attack both Perry and Cain -- Perry for having "allowed" it and Cain for making a big deal over "nothing." Both narratives will be forwarded, potentially in the same program. Once the liberal media goes through Cain's past with a fine-toothed comb, they will doubtless find disgruntled business adversaries, accusations of infidelity, and more.

If Palin had been in the race, the smear tactics would have failed, as the establishment and media threw everything they could possibly throw to get her out of the race. Who knows what her personal reasons, in her heart of hearts, were for not running? Perhaps she feared for the safety of her family. At any rate, there is no other conservative that has as much of a head start on the slander as Palin did....

I won’t be supporting the other gop candidates, because they don’t deserve it. The anti-Palin on the right threw her under the bus so we will do the same to their candidates

“People are unhappy with the choices.”

And frankly, no other big names in the Republican Party, either.

We have some good people out there, but remember, we are dealing with a national media SO RADICALIZED, that Evan Bayh and Hillary Clinton weren’t radical enough to support in 2008.

I said in 2006, that if the media could convince the sheeple that 4.4% Unemployment was “THE WORST ECONOMY SINCE THE GREAT DEPRESSION!”, they could convince them of ANYTHING. 2008 proved that rule.

Now, we are going to have to support whoever comes out of our primary, with the same heart we would have supported Sarah with, because the very future of this nation is at stake.

obama was a polarizing figure but he won. Stop buying into this nonsense that we need moderate candidates to win. We need to bring them over to our side, not move over to their side

Many of us haven’t given up. This group just started this evening, we are over 2000 members/activists already. Click and ask to be admitted, if you so choose. We’d love to have you! It’s called Sarah Palin’s Earthquake (Sarah said an earthquake might be what it takes to get her into the race :)

With Palin's announcement that she won't run for president, the election is essentially over.

Unless unemployment magically falls below 7% by summer of 2012, the election is most definitely not over. This election will be about the economy and the man who has presided over it for four years - if it remains like this, Obama will lose to any GOP candidate.

This writer is too blue, needs a Valium or something. She will make a big difference as usual.

SP has won the hearts and minds of so many people because she is an upbeat, happy, clever, intelligent, inspirational and wonderful human being. She is just like us, she has no airs, and unlike so many other Politicians she is not a snob.

Closing one chapter and opening another. Let's roll Sarah.

I’m not. In fact, at this stage, it would be the worst thing she could possibly do. It would be Ross Perot all over again.

Whether they like Sarah or hate her, whether they agree with her rationale for not running or not, everyone has to realize that her credibility has suffered major damage since her announcement.

Long time believers and supporters (like me) not only feel betrayed, we feel like we have been made fools of. Everyone was pointing out all the reasons why she couldn’t/wouldn’t/shouldn’t, but we blew them all off — convinced that Sarah had a brave and brilliant secret plan that would totally wipe the floor with all opposition in a stunning display of shock and awe.

That is not something that is going to be forgiven quickly (if ever) nor should it be.

In my not so humble opinion, Sarah has one, repeat ONE, chance of staying relevant in this election cycle, and that is to jump on the Cain Train and campaign as enthusiastically as she possibly can for his victory. If he gets the nomination, he might even consider her for the VP slot, although I doubt it. If she wins, he might reward her with a cabinet post or an ambassadorial appointment, but not even that is certain.

But, if Cain gets the nomination and loses, or even if he loses in the primaries, her unflagging support of his efforts will go a long way towards alleviating the odium that she has brought upon herself by choking when she was needed the most.

There is a very good possibility that if Cain wins nomination, he could pick Palin on the ticket. Could be why she decided to stay out because if she got in, Romney wins easily with conservative vote badly divided.

I cannot believe you were that big of a supporter if you would just quit on her. She has been through more crap than any other Political person in History, and she is still standing. Do not quit on her, she will not be going anywhere.

Quit on her? Hey, she quit on US!

She made her choice, and she needs to stick by that choice. Any attempt at this stage to get her to enter the race is bound to fail.

Am I the only person here that remembers Ross Perot? Granted, he was before the Internet, but everyone was saying the same things about Ross that we have been saying about Sarah. He’s a maverick! He’s a visionary! He’s an outsider! He’ll take Washington by storm and whip their political butts into line!

But he choked.

He dropped from the race — and then he made things worse by trying to get back into it, but by that time no one (except for the late night comedians) was paying any attention.

I stand by my analysis. Sarah has damaged her brand too badly at this point for her to be a candidate during this election cycle. Period. It’s not going to happen.

If she doesn’t want to endorse and actively support Cain, she needs to drop off the radar for a while while the people who are serious get busy with the important business of selecting our candidate.

Me too. The guy lays it out straight like Reagan did and the Treason party is going to find it very difficult to get by on their usual BS. Can you imagine this guy in a debate with President Teleprompter? I am praying Cain gets the nomination because he will just obliterate him.

It's complete rubbish.

Unless I really missed something from my morning Vast Right Wing Conspiracy e-mail for several months, Sarah did not run in 2010, and turnout was not a problem for us.

Sarah did not poll especially well among swing voters. Those folks are incredibly ill-informed and actually believed she said things that were said by Tina Fey. I've said this before and I'll say it again: those jackasses will vote for the picture they see on the last pamphlet that's handed to them before they walk into the fire hall. They've been brain fed the message that Sarah was Dan Quayle in a skirt, and they still believe it. Her dropping out will have no effect on the Idiot Middle.

I've also said this many times, and I'll say it again: with the exception of a very very very small percentage of cut-off-my-nose-to-spite-my-face people, Sarah's natural constituency is NOT going to stay home. And more to the point: if you think she's going to let them stay home, you don't known Palin very well. She's going to tell them to get off their asses, and she's going to pressure candidates who want her endorsement to endorse some of her program.

Every election with an incumbent is about the incumbent. The message that Barack 0bama is a dangerous left-wing radical, while true, has never been believed. The message that he is completely incompetent has taken hold. His latest "strategems" have made clear he has no counter-punch for that attack. None. He's going to pull the race card: people are already sick of it; the class warfare card which is easily deflected by pointing out that he himself didn't want to raise anybody's taxes just a few months ago. He's going to say it's Bush/Tsunami/Flooding/Hurricanes/Europe's fault; everybody is sick of his excuses, which have become a joke.

He's finally going to settle on claiming this is about a "competing vision for the future of America." Yeah, you said that last time. We've all seen how the hopey-changey vision works. It doesn't.

Between now and November 2012, there's virtually nothing that can happen that's good for him, and plenty that's much worse than it already is.

Stay focused and stopped believing the nonsense.

Ridiculous. Yes, they will vilify the R nominee. To say that Sarah was the only one that could win is laughable. If Sarah believed this, she would have run.

Ronin, are you my long lost twin? That was the most cogent, dead on post I think I’ve ever seen here. She has done enormous damage to herself and to get behind Cain would repair much of that. I’m bitterly disappointed she didn’t come out swinging and I can’t understand her reasoning.
