Unfortunately, it looks like the forces of smear, slander, and threat have finally claimed their intended victim. With Palin's announcement that she won't run for president, the election is essentially over.
The calculus is fairly simple: the media and GOP establishment want Romney to be the nominee. Once a progressive is at the head of the Republican ticket, low turnout for Republicans will hand a narrow victory to Obama.
So here is how the election will go. The media hasn't seriously opened up on Herman Cain, but most assuredly they will. Cain has been in business for decades, and the liberal media will troll through every relationship, every business deal, every word he has ever spoken. If that fails, the lies will start. To see evidence of this, we need not look at far as Palin. Rick Perry, another progressive, was attacked for something that someone painted on a rock on land his family leased out. That narrative will be used to attack both Perry and Cain -- Perry for having "allowed" it and Cain for making a big deal over "nothing." Both narratives will be forwarded, potentially in the same program. Once the liberal media goes through Cain's past with a fine-toothed comb, they will doubtless find disgruntled business adversaries, accusations of infidelity, and more.
If Palin had been in the race, the smear tactics would have failed, as the establishment and media threw everything they could possibly throw to get her out of the race. Who knows what her personal reasons, in her heart of hearts, were for not running? Perhaps she feared for the safety of her family. At any rate, there is no other conservative that has as much of a head start on the slander as Palin did....

This is sheer nonsense. They were begging for someone better. The GOP establishment is willing to settle for Romney if the only alternatives are The Dunce or Mr. Federal Sales Tax.
Spot on. Every election is about turnout and Palin would have electrified a segment that is notorious for staying home. At the same time if we get a finger-in-the-wind candidate like Romney the left will do their best to demonstrate his two-face nature and suppress enthusiasm. Will it be enough? That depends on who the Dem nominee is. Hillary would be beat Romney hands down. Not sure Obama could win against my pet chicken.
I think the MSM and the Republican establishment are going to find Cain a much harder nut to crack than they expect.
I am not am American Thinker - I am an American Doer -’and I will do everything I can to see that Obama is defeated in 2012!
What a crock of shiite. A generic tomato soup can could defeat the current occupant of the White House.
I’m glad she pulled out early.
>> Spot on. Every election is about turnout
We’re better than that. Affection for Palin must not trump our desire for Liberty.
Don’t get me wrong; I admire Sarah Palin and regret her dismissal, but if the fruits of Liberty can only be delivered through Sarah, we’re not only screwed, we’re #ing demented.
My comment is: This is really stupid. It really really is.
Just got back from Walmart. Picked up “The Undefeated” DVD and the “Going Rogue” CD together for $15.00 bucks. A pretty good deal. When Cain is elected, Palin will be in his administration. They are two of a kind.
If they stay home they can pull their thumbs out of their asses and stick 'em in their mouths because they got nothing worth saying that I care about hearing.
I’d say you are right...Although Cain has a lot of positives, I can’t imagine the Republicans picking him in the primary...And with the other two, it doesn’t much matter which one gets the nomination...They won’t generate enough interest for enough people to go vote...
I don’t know who this bozo is and I don’t think he knows squat.
There’s a movement building to encourage Palin to reconsider her decision. Are you interested?
I've said the same thing here.
Palin did NOT throw her hat into the ring because if the kids, but I have NO idea WHY she pulled this crap.
She said, on Hannity's radio show, on Thursday, that her kids were all for her running, believed that she would run, until she reneged, and she isn't staying home for her kids either! No, she told Sean that she is going to be out and about giving speeches and endorsing other candidates. She also said that she didn't care what others said about her and her family.
I’m going to cry until I urinate into my puddle and have to get pissed off at someone else++ cause it’s all their fault. ;) I need to post this.
BS
this election is ABO (Anybody but Obama)
Please, Big Guy in the Sky, let this analysis be wrong.
We lost in 2008 because Fred Thompson decided to run...kinda. Lots of big S/ here.
