Um, that would be “put some dirt on it.”

Apologies to Peyton Manning.

I remember many months ago a thread that said that anyone who did not support Palin should be banned from FR.

It got completely crazy.

And how silly? Just because you think maybe, just a little bit, Sarah Palin was not going to run has nothing to do whether or not you “support” Sarah Palin.

That was the crazy part. Conflating neutral fact-based analysis with emotional meanings.

I wouldn’t feel too sorry for her. She was given the opportunity to make some really big bucks. I read 12 million last year. This can take care of her and her family for a very long time and if she’s left with nothing more than her FOX gig at one million a year, I could live nicely on that.

dittos plus Sarah was lurking and if a major contender or two imploded then she would jump in. The only reason she just announced was Chris Christie did and she was under pressure

So she had to accept a reality that she didn't like.

Of all the posts I've read about THE decision, yours is the one that "resonates" (I really hate to use that word) with me.

I also wonder if part of what created the reality she didn't like was the "Undefeated's" lack of acceptance. It seems to me that around that time Sarah made a statement asking 'we the people' to let her know how much we would support her. Perhaps the numbers just didn't add up. There are millions who supported her, but she needed 10's of millions to be successful. I wonder what the sales numbers of the DVD are.

I don’t know about personal reasons, but the political landscape we’ve seen develop the past couple of weeks was as favorable towards her running as it could have been.

Palin fans are just going to go on the rebound and start idolizing Mr. National Sales Tax instead.

Oh so true. What the hell are we going to do? I see our country slipping away and the media is making us powerless to stop it.

The current flavor of the week can shove his 999 plan. We don't need more GD taxes. No one is even talking about stopping the spending and shrinking the government.

Have you read anything about it? Trust me, NO ONE hates the IRS more than I do. This 999 thing takes the power away from the IRS and the oh-so-open to interpretation 70,000 page tax code that changes every year, and if you pay taxes now you most likely will be paying less under 999. It isn't 999 on top of what we have now, it is instead of. The 20% you pay now on total income? Gone. 15% paroll taxes? Gone.

It is also the only way to get the 50% who pay nothing (criminals, illegals, and everyone else), to pony up.

No one is even talking about stopping the spending and shrinking the government.

Herman Cain is.

Wait. You actually believe that electing Herman Cain is going to ensure the destruction of the IRS and the entire US tax code?

That will never happen in a million years.

I like Herman Cain, though. I just don't think he is ready to be the leader of the free world, especially at this point in history. We are at a precipice and we need a Churchill.

This letter may reveal a lot about Palin’s character, since Ziegler was an early and vigorous supporter of her from 2008-2010, and now has seemingly nothing but contempt.

Didn’t you guys know Reagan won by 8:30 that evening ? that must have been a stunner considering the polling data from that election that had a bit more static because of Anderson and such a very large undecided coulmn.

I wish Sarah a good life and accept that she chose to not become a presidential candidate. The whole story is unknown to the public at this time, and may never be. I believe that she had good motives for the efforts on behalf of conservatives that she has made for a good part of her life. I do not accept that Sarah had or has exploited anybody for financial gain. She had a good and free life before McCain. She and Todd were hardly financially strapped before the deliberate efforts by her political enemies to impoverish her by their misuse of the Alaska legal system. I speculate that the final decision was made in connection with the Rubio, Christie firm announcement that they were not running for president. There is something political going on that we do not know, and I do not in any case fault Palin for her decision. Best wishes for Sarah and her family.

I am deeply disappointed that she kept giving us hints/wink wink via her bus tour, the Iowa speech, etc., while she evidently had no intention of running. Hope you enjoyed your 15 minutes, Sarah.

I tried to put myself in the Palins' place: it is difficult to see how a Christian family from gorgeous, rural Alaska could get a close look at the cesspool that is Washington DC -- and -- in good conscience -- elect to immerse their family in that hellhole. And that is particularly so for the one who personally wades into the toxic bioculture that is national politics.

Many of Sarah Palin's personal and conservative values exactly matched what I want to see in a President. But, in blunt reality, I don't know that I had the right to ask anyone who matches those criteria to make that sacrifice of themselves and their family.

~~~~~~~~~
Have I just said that our Nation is no longer worth the sacrifice of those morally qualified to lead it?
That would, indeed, constitute a sobering and frightful state of affairs... :-(
~~~~~~~~~

Pray for our Nation...

Recently some of Perry’s supporters have been just as bad as a few of Palins....Name calling, nasty smarmy comments etc.....They don’t do Perry any good and turn off people to him and are too stupid to know it...

Oh, I did. But I went to the polls that morning with locked jaws and tears in my eyes, glaring at all the smug FDR generation people and yellow dog Democrats hovering around the polling place. As the reports came in, there was much rejoicing that evening. I laughed, my sister cried. SHE thought we would be in a nuclear war (or as Jimmah would say ‘nookeeyuh waw’) within weeks, I thought we had just elected the best President of the 20th Century.

First time I got to vote. Man did that feel good. I just stepped out and looked at all the stars in that great big Texas sky. God willing, I will see another election day like that before I die.
