I'm 55 years old. I paid for my college education by working hard in school so I could be awarded a couple of small scholarships. I paid for the rest of my college expenses with my savings built up by working during high school, working through college and a student loan which I paid off by working hard.

I had a career for 20 years in a field that I could see was not going to provide a living in the future. I retooled and started a new career. It's still hard work, but my company values me because I work hard and am useful.

I still rent. I am paying off my wife's student loan. My daughter attends a Christian school because I won't put her in the godless, Marxist public schools. It's expensive, but worth every penny. I don't know if I'll ever be able to retire. Who cares? I'd rather be busy working. It makes me feel useful.

I am the 53%.

I am the 53%. I work a full time job and loads of overtime. Because of this, I am almost never home.

I am also a full time college student working towards a bachelors degree. I work to provide FOR MY family, not those sucker-fish that seem to think they have some pseudo “right” to my labor. I have gobs of debt because of my degree, and my Lady’s 3 degrees. In addition to paying back these debts, and paying for all of my bills, I have saved up enough money to send my 15 month old to private school through the 5th grade when he becomes of school age. I have enough even with inflation.

I LIVE poor because of personal self inflicted sacrifice. I am 33, I rent, and scrutinize every purchase down to spark plugs for my car. I do not have TV nor have had it since 2007. I use Magic Jack as a phone because it is cheaper. I never go out to eat, and do not engage in any recreational activity that costs money to include bars, or paid events. I chose to sacrifice to provide for mine.

I am the 53% of Americans that work hard to progress my family into a better income bracket. The time is NOW - we have the momentum to ensure that our offspring benefit from our sacrifice. I know I will never obtain the life I once thought I would obtain. However, my son will have that opportunity BECAUSE OF my sacrifice.

You are correct sir, my son will never set foot in a socialistic public school much to the disdain of my brilliant younger sister (23 yrs old with a Masters and working on her PhD) who is a public school teacher. She still believes that public school serves our children well. I wish she would wake up before she too is lost.

This is no joke, or pun - I want a simple bumper sticker that says “I am the 53%” - Anyone know where I can buy one? I was thinking of a sticker like Andrew Wilkow’s stickers (black background and white letters).
