The song was a smash hit in 1958, but this clip is from Andy Williams’ show in 1959.

Watch to the very end and you’ll see who the two clappers with Andy are—the Everly Brosthers. One of them was married to one the Chordettes’ daughters.

I did see the Everly Bros! Didn’t know about the marriage to one of the Chordettes. Yes, I recall the song. I was fairly young in ‘58, but I watched American Bandstand, so I knew all the songs!

Thank you. I haven't had the opportunity to thank you for the impact you and Jim BOTH had on my son at the Picnic and Shoot in southern Utah. That was my most important take-away from the trip.

Yes , I was very young then too. We always had the radio playing in the house and my siblings were teens already, so the late 1950s was a very special time for a young exit82.

And a special time for American music.

(oh, the Everly Bros,--one of them was married to the daughter of one of the Chordettes, not one of them.)

Yep, the radio was always playing in my house, too. I loved all the music and the songs! I knew all the singers, groups and all the words to the songs. Such fun and glorious days! I still love all that music best, don’t you?
