October 5, 2011 I hope Im only one of many to see the irony. On the day that Steve Jobs, one of the most innovative entrepreneurs in our history, died, packs of ignorant and possibly malicious protestors roamed Wall Street demanding the death of the system that made Jobs possible.
Steves Great Job
Steve Jobs was a capitalist hero. He had a vision of computers for everybody in 1976, at a time when it was assumed that only the most prosperous businesses and the most advanced and well-funded research labs would ever need or be able to afford them. He built his first computer in his garage with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, and they marketed it from his bedroom. Good thing that local government regulatorsthe kind who shut down childrens lemonade stands todaydidnt arrest him for operating a business without a license and against zoning regulations!
Jobs, with his Apple colleagues, pioneered the home computer market, came out with the first commercially available system with a graphic interface, and introduced the iPod, iPhone, and iPad. Jobs himself founded Pixar, which brought a new and exciting look to movies. The result was a transformed communications and information world. Today, Apple Inc. has annual revenues of $65 billion, nearly 50,000 employees, and a market capitalization of $300 billion, second in publicly-traded companies only to Exxon. Wall Street loves Apple!,br>
Killing Capital
But anti-capitalist protestors today do not love Wall Street. Lets be clear here. It is quite reasonable to oppose the federal governments handing out billions in taxpayer dollars to bail out failed investment banks. But thats not what the protestors in New York and elsewhere are complaining about. They seem to be mostly the usual spoiled young people who want to smash...

Enough is enough - Steve Jobs was NOT a “capitalist hero.”
He was a billionaire collectivist.
There is a BIG difference.
Can you support your assertion?
Just remember though: All Jobs did was design. He never came up with a smaller chip or the concept of finger interaction. The last years of his life, the only reason he could come up with all this stuff like the iphone, ipod and ipad was because the tech was there that OTHER people invented. He was to computers what Kanye West was to rap music. Using stuff that was already invented and putting sparkly flowers around it.
And the Founding Fathers were just “designers.” They didn’t “invent” the philosophy of freedom and individualism. They just stole it from others.
Steve Jobs was a WINNER!
In a communists system he would have spent his life working in a bakery making muffins or something stupid.
The other thing is the packs of ignorant protestors were probably using computers - computers they wouldn't have had without the Jobs of the world.
Well said, sir. Bravo.
Nonsense. What Jobs proved was how important industrial design is, and Apple had that nailed.
Like saying Henry Ford should not get credit because he didn’t invent the wheel or the engine.
Yep, reatards on display.
Sad to see wealth/success envy, even here ;(
Your an idiot. x0-=+><
You are a moron. And you can’t spell.
Sadly, there are virulent anti-capitalists here on FR.
It’s not spelling, it’s literacy! You can fix that, but it takes work and not just opinions.
can u rd ths ef u can u r a the dumbass that wrote the previous post.
