HOUSTON -- Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said Thursday that he would definitely consider an invitation to run as the eventual nominees vice president, except if the nominee turns out to be Texas Gov. Rick Perry.
Cain, who rocketed to the top tier of the GOP field in several recent polls, was asked by reporters on the campaign trail for his thoughts on a hypothetical invitation to run as the eventual nominees No. 2. After offering the obligatory comment that he intends to be the nominee, Cain said, Quite frankly, based upon Gov. Perrys position on some issues, I would not be comfortable being his vice presidential nominee.
Those issues include Perrys moderate stances on immigration. As governor, Perry supported legislation offering in-state college tuition for the children of illegal immigrants, which has become a flash point in his campaign. Cain said, Issues relative to being soft on the border, issues relative to the whole, you know, tuition for children of illegal aliens. And I havent totally gone through all of his positions, but a lot of positions I have questions with.
Cain, who is black, was critical of Perry after the Washington Post reported Sunday that his family owned a Texas hunting camp once known as Niggerhead, a word that was also painted on a rock near the camps entrance. Perry has maintained that his father painted over the word as soon as he bought the property in the 1980s. And Cain subsequently said he believed Perrys explanation.
Of a vice presidential slot in general, Cain said, I would not say no to being vice president of the United States. But it would depend upon who got the nomination. I will support who gets the nomination. I know I have said that there are some people right now who I cannot support, but I wouldnt say no to it. I could say yes. But it has to be someone who I believe I can complement them in their job by being able to bring my skills to the table.

Or could it be you have NO idea what Perry's potions on anything are and are merely posting per-programed campaign bot attack lines against anyone not Perry?
If Guiliani was running today and Perry went around only attacking Romney and not Guiliani then you would have a point.
Thing is ...Cain’s guy didn’t get it last time but he is doing his best to help him this election.
He will support Romney as the nominee as is open (and Hoping)for a VP slot with Romney.
Thanks...
Sorry.
You wanna delete the post and I’ll try to re-think and re-do?

But Cain is passing off getting his hands dirty by saying each state should handle the question of their own section of an international border and how they approach the problem of illegals who have been allowed by the federal government to remain for years?
A bit too flexible a border position for a primary candidate for the presidency to hold. Though not being a border governor, I understand how this might not be on the top of things he’s fully knowledgeable about (most people aren’t) — or understand the way it effects everything in border states.
Of course no one has investigated. Nor do they care. They hate Perry so much that they don’t care about anything else.
Perry has not attacked Cain or Bachmann but they sure have aattacked him.
Cain and Bachmann constantnly nipping at Perry’s heels but not Romney,
Its obvious to me, that some people here hate Rick Perry so much that they are willing to indirectly support Romney.
And imagine how a 2000 mile 15-20 foot wall with gun towers, razor wire and a trench separating us from our number one trading partner, Mexico, would look to the world. They are not driving us into the sea. They are not refusing to recognize us as a country. Criminal gangs, drug cartels and unchecked illegal immigration has created a war zone on the border.
To the world we would look weak, retreating behind a wall. Not a good image and totally unnecessary.
Seriously, is that the best you can come up with?
Ask me a question.

Except that Cain was running well before Perry. Perry entered the race at the behest of the wealthy establishment Republicans because of their deep fear that a true conservative could possibly win the nomination. They are deathly afraid of anyone like Bachmann or Cain. Perry is there to get enough votes to insure Romney's nomination. It is a battle, just like 2008, between the establishment elite, those that helped get us into the mess we're in and conservatives, those who offer the only chance of getting us out of the mess we're in. Romney is Guiliani and Perry is McCain, in fact Perry and McCain share many similarities like being soft on illegal invaders.
Can you really see Perry doing anything bold to turn things around? Of course not, he's not a "turnaround" expert, he's a career politician, master of crony capitalism. Cain, on the other hand, is a "turnaround" expert and has already offered bold ideas. He is not bound by any favors he owes.
The choice will become starker as the campaign progresses, bold leadership with straight talking Cain or status quo with establishment Perry/Romney. From what I have seen of Tea Party conservatives, the choice will be easy for them.
BTW, after Obama do you not think it's good to ask questions? I bet there are things we don't know about Cain...wanna bet?
All I need to know about Cain is that he's willing to be Romney's running mate...that after endorsing Mitt in 2008!
I hear that a lot...
Mostly from my wife.

Well the alternative isn’t working too well, obviously. I don’t care what Perry says, I care what his track record is. He claims to be the expert at solving this problem but he is not solving this problem, as Santorum pointed out.
Meanwhile, of all the jobs created in Texas since 2007, 81 percent were taken by newly arrived immigrant workers (legal and illegal).

Do you think that would stop illegal crossings?
Did he say a 2000 mile electric fence?
WHOA!!!
That could be taken in ways I never intended!!!
I MEANT that sometimes I talk too much!
Geez!
LOL I wouldn’t vote for either one of them. Romney or Perry. But I’ll be happy to vote for Hermain Cain!
Wooo Hooo! I just heard what’s his name on Fox say that Sarah Palin said she is impressed with Herman Cain but that she hasn’t endorsed anyone yet.
"I did a great job in Texas so make me President" is not an agenda.
