Sarah Palin will not run for president. She made the announcement in a letter to supporters Wednesday night.
Read Palins letter here:
October 5, 2011 Wasilla, Alaska After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for President of the United States. As always, my family comes first and obviously Todd and I put great consideration into family life before making this decision. When we serve, we devote ourselves to God, family and country. My decision maintains this order.
My decision is based upon a review of what common sense Conservatives and Independents have accomplished, especially over the last year. I believe that at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office from the nations governors to Congressional seats and the Presidency. We need to continue to actively and aggressively help those who will stop the fundamental transformation of our nation and instead seek the restoration of our greatness, our goodness and our constitutional republic based on the rule of law....

I’m heavy hearted over it. The country just stinks so bad, in at least half of its quarters, that a good woman like this was so maligned and ridiculed just for being GOOD. I am not so sad for her as I am sad and DISGUSTED by this country, for what it still does to good people, especially to conservative women.
That said, I’m relieved. I hated seeing what was done to her and her children. And I also hated how she CONTINUED to bring her children out on the campaigns and exposed them continuously, allowing them to bear the brunt of all the nastiness. I said it before on here, but I just couldn’t stand it.
Hopefully this country will recover, will clean up its act morally someday ...sometime, some later millenium. And I don’t believe it’s over for Sarah ...not by a long shot.
I am not long for this world on some days ...
"You betcha!"
Well, there was the money, too.
You really don't want to watch his TV show today then, even he was depressed by his guest. Rich Dad, Poor Dad author. Wow! five G's and all.
I don't think any are in doubt of that, nor do I think any thought that before CBS....sometimes individuals are mistaking zeal and passion, 'for true hope' that Palin could turn the tide and they knew she had what it takes to do that.
It hasn't been as much love for the woman as for all she 'represents' dear to the hearts of the people who have supported her......the Constitution,... Love for our Nation and all the goodness known about it,..... the Patriotic Spirit,... and the fearless courage to stand for principles of our founders in the face of fear and opposition...someone who would fight for those very ideas of... freedom and liberty.. as we have known...and who passed thru the crucible to make these things known that were fast slipping away..etc.
Palin awoke that Spirit in so many who feel our nation is being stolen, robbed, and degraded to the umpteenth degree...and then being trampled under foot.
Palin brings "hope" to what appears to many as Hopeless....so of course the disappointment is not only very sad...but felt to the heart that she isn't running...and worse that the media has indeed seemingly taken her out. So there's some anger with this as well.
Those candidates who are left now to run have none of these character traits as deeply engraied as Palin...they're simply aother round of politicians and or seeking their place in History. The same old stuff we've seen before...
So trying to get Palin supporters "excited" about these remaining candidates will be fruitless for a time. There after all is only 'one' Sarah Palin...who has stood the politicians and Washington and this administration on edge for a very long time....and we can only "hope" she will remain significant and keep the "fire" burning in us all as we come down to the wire of this Primary and next election.
I guess I'm just trying to explain so that those who might not have such a deep love of country, of the patriotic Spirit...of the substance within Americans which make us who we are ...might understand it wasn't just about running...it was about rising the nation to what it once was...and right now it doesn't look like that's possible with the candidates we have to choose from. We all had hope we would not have to hold our noses ..yet again!
Thats really too bad. It will be a “turnout-less” election-probably for both sides.
Yes, I think so too. I've been concerned for sometime that God may not swing things around this time.... He has another agenda coming which almost requires we be weakened as the USA has always been a "light" and a Haven of hope for so many...not to mention a war machine He used time and again to keep the evil in this world in check.
I can't help but see the similarities in our country as that of Israel when she turned her back on God. He warned her many times as well, but there did come the day where God said enough is enough....and i fear that day is here now for our country because of the people....and our refusal to keep him as "One nation 'under' God" in our hearts and minds and very souls.
Thanks Viking for putting that into rightful perspective...hard to see this, though we all know it, when the hearts heavy....but this will only be for a moment...thank you again....I needed that reminder.
This is not a total loss.....I would much rather see 16 years of Palin than eight. I see her running as VP again. With the right person as president, she has two terms as VP. After her successful terms as VP, it’s only obvious she will have two more terms as president. A guy can hope....
Not for me Sapwolf...though Cains' as you stated Washington would chew him up and spit him out in a heartbeat unless he can gain a powerful cabinet around him....and not look to friends and family and co-workers he's affiliated with...especially not those who help him run his campaign....we don't want another repeat of Obamas cabinet. It doesn't work without some strong seasoned players when the game is on the field it is today.
She’s also smart enough to string along her supporters for as much campaign money as she can get. Sad.
She supported McCain twice. I would bet it is Romney.
People like you, who call yourselves conservatives, need to take a good hard look at where things are today and realize that if not for that putz McCain using this woman as his ticket to ride, you wouldn’t have a soapbox to stand on.
Yep...that says it very well...good rant...made me feel even better!
Might be so....but I do have concerns about Cain....some have said he’s there to keep Romney looking favorable by his attacks against Perry....who really knows? But I am also concerned the democrates are using or will use him as well. So far they haven’t much taken him to task...until I see that more I wonder.
The sad part is that anybody that pointed out any Red Flags in the Palin candidacy was trashed as a "hater" and accused of having "Palin Derangement Syndrome". No dissenting opinion was tolerated. Any dissenting opinion resulted in a personal attack.
Even Palin SUPPORTERS that dared to mention the slightest problem with Sarah were attacked until they begged for forgiveness.
The analogy that I posted several times was to point out that, if I did not believe that my lovable 95 year old aunt was a good choice to land a Boeing 747, that did not mean that I "hated" her.
However, I will say, 2ndDivisionVet, that I cannot recall you ever engaging in that behavior. You truly believed that Sarah would run and win and your energies were directed at supporting Sarah and not throwing out personal insults at everybody that disagreed with your position.
You must be feeling pretty low tonight and I'm sorry. But, cheer up. Time heals all wounds.
If she supports Romney, her name will be banished from Free Republic.
Romney is the consummate crony capitalist. He stands for everything she claims she is against. He made his fortune by playing the crony capitalist game.
If she turns around and supports Romney, she is dead to me.
Let me know if you need any asbestos underwear...I think I have a few extra pairs. (See my tagline.)
Obama's lack of experience is not his problem. Think how badly we'd be screwed if he were competent!
