The Washington Post story revealing that Texas Governor Rick Perry hunted and hosted lawmakers at a hunting camp called Niggerhead is alarming and displays a new height in racial insensitivity in national politics. Mr. Perry should immediately fully explain how he could have gone to a ranch and hunted that is named after such an obvious racist term or he should withdrawl from the race. He is either blindly insensitive or hopelessly unaware of where he spends his time. Either way it makes one wonder if he is ready for prime time and certainly whether he is ready for the White House. Reverend Al Sharpton, President National Action Network

I believe there is a reason to fear Perry would be gullible enough on the immigration/illegales issue, that he would unwittingly set up a membership movement that would turn the Democrats into unbeatable Bolsheviks.

LOL, I am clueless as to what you are even talking about or desperately trying to imply.
I have voiced no support nor criticism of your guy or for any candidate on this thread, I've simply expressed opinions on what has been said by candidates.
You are revealing you motives and intentions here.
IBTZ.
The Perry's hometown is Paint Creek. The hunting lease is want we're talking about and it isn't their hometown.
Resist we much.

As evidence that he could have handled it better I give you this contentious 200+ post thread. What have you got?
Read them, good stuff!
When Perry first entered the race, he was a blank slate to me, but since then, he hasn't done well for himself and I don't like to be called heartless by some Texan just because I disagree with him.....
Sorry to say he is now in the same category as Romney, a big NOPE.
One of Perrys defenders said it was from when he was a democrat years back....That was a stupid defense of the man...I would vote for Cain but neither Romney or Perry...
“......But the attacks are set to continue, with the Rev. Al Sharpton telling POLITICO he plans to be all over the story on his MSNBC show on Monday afternoon.
At worst, he either thought it was something he could identify with and even have some bit of irony, Sharpton said. At best, hes insensitive. How can someone who would seek the highest office in the land be so insensitive to the implications of that name?
Sharpton predicted the issue will harm Perry among Republicans.
Even though hes running in a party whose primary [does] not have a substantial African-American vote, the average American does not want to be identified to such racial insensitivity, Sharpton said. People say, I dont want to be identified with something this blatant.

Okay, maybe I’m crazy. I’m gonna go ask my husband who has lived in Texas even longer than I have, what those flowers were called when he was a kid.
LOL Most of the thread is on Perry and the ranch which looks more like a non starter.
I can't argue with that! lol
It doesn't mean a thing to me. Are all presidential candidates responsible for the place names of every place they've ever set foot? LOL
Cain strikes me as a fair man and he has said things in the past that he clarified later. This may be one of those times as more info becomes available.
Just what church exactly does “Rev”. Al Sharpton Belong? Thr Church of “pay me and I’ll shut up”?
LOL, that’s him! I kept expecting him to come out from behind his podium wearing a tutu! :)
Set foot and leased are two different things. If they were going to paint the rick they could have puttied it first so that the wording would not still be visible. Perry isn’t my candidate so I don’t rally care that they didn’t.
