The Independent reports that US Congress blocked $200 million in aid to Palestinian Authority following Mahmoud Abbas' bid for UN membership and is threatening wider sanctions.
..According to the British newspaper, the freezing of the funds, which were to have been provided in the US fiscal year that ends Saturday, is the most tangible sign yet of the seriousness of Congressional leaders' threats of an even wider halt to funding in the coming year if Abbas continues with his actions at the UN.
..The Obama administration argues that assistance to the Palestinians is "an essential part of the US commitment to a secure future and two-state solution for Palestinians".

Why should the US tolerate the Palestinians attacking another allie in the region. The Palestinians want to get the UN to destroy Israel. I would alike to see ALL aid cut off to the PA.

Joking aside, I know what you mean. Obama is losing in the polls and looking at a huge massive in ‘12 [or as Axelrod put it, ‘titanic’]. He’s in a horrible mood, and would love to take it out on someone or something. Worry over losing more of the Jewish vote than he’s already squandered should constrain his baser instincts, but we shall see.
