Is Michael Kinsley sure he wants to go down this path?
In a Bloomberg View column and then in a clip run on "Good Morning America" today, the liberal pundit claims Chris Christie is "just too fat" to be president. According to Kinsley, Christie's weight is evidence of a lack of the self-control necessary to be an effective president.
If self-control is a key requirement for the presidency, I wonder how Kinsley would apply that standard to other recent occupants of the White House?

“naturally slender people would have to look elsewhere for their sense of moral superiority.”
Just kick their ass up between their ears and give them a place to look.
Maybe they should hire Richard Simmons for the State Dept’s weight control program!
OR
Gee, let me think...
Kinsley’s only thin thanks to the AIDS virus.
He’s still alive? I thought Kinsley had died some time ago. Not being mean, I really did think he died.
Im not a Christie fan, But I think I would pay a few bucks to watch Christie go on this show and take this little weasel out using only his sharp wit, and fast come-backs. That is one thing Christie is very good at. Even though I dont want him to be the guy, an Obama vs. Christie debate would be a gas to watch.
Not mean, I thought he was gone myself. Hadn’t heard from him in years and he used to be the ‘not so big voice on the left.”
However, even though Kinsley probably said it to get some much needed press, it is true.
Christie may or may not lack self-control. I know I do.
But he IS too fat to be president. I like him but it hurts me to look at him. He’s a bowling ball. He’s grotesquely obese. He’s huge. He’s .... fat.
You can write him off because he’s not running, and that he doesn’t have the conservative credentials you are looking for - but please don’t go down the path of idiot Liberals and disqualify someone because of their weight or potential health issues.
That sort of thinking would have disqualified many of our past Presidents including George Washington, who had numerous health related struggles and physical sufferings.
Putting aside the obvious question about how Kinsley felt about the heavyset sex addict from Arkansas, this points to a bigger issue.
Liberals are so consumed with making this president some sort of dictator they are now demanding our leaders be physically perfect, like the images of Roman caesars.
We need to get behind Mr. Kinsley’s movement then and identify others that lack this self control then. I think of Elena Kagan and Janet Napolitano. We can throw in Barbara Mikulski for good measure.
Oh bull, Christie is just preparing for the upcoming food shortage.
What about assinine-ism? The libs are the most hateful people I know. Their way or the highway. Violence. Threats... God forgive them. Go Gov Christie.
Michael Kinsley: The Pee Wee Herman of the left wing media.
Michael Kinsley is a card carrying moron. Who listens to anything he says?
Well, he won’t get my vote for a completely different reason: politics. Fact is, he’s ok with illegals and providing them social services... he’s not all that much against ObamaCare... not so strong a supported of 2nd amendment. I’ve heard several people describe him as a “feisty McCain-lite”.
Funny, I don’t remember many liberals arguing that Clinton’s lack of self-control disqualified him for office. This seems to yet another case of pinning a label to a republican and then saying the label is disqualifying. Note: I am not a Christie fan, just even less of a fan of this tactic.
And smokers. It's okay to persecute both of these groups because their lifestyle endangers their health. However, we mustn't criticize promiscuity, be it gay or straight. No, no, no... sexual freedom is the only kind of freedom liberals recognize.
His weight has nothing to do with his ability to be president, however, his views do.
I think the man is a serious talent, but he is nowhere near ready to step into the position. Two years as governor will not make him ready for what needs to be done. Remember he wants to "compromise". Does anyone around here remember another good man who went to Washington hoping to bring a "new tone"? How did that work out? The man was nearly destroyed.
This seems to open the door to employers laying off or not hiring overweight people ... per the lib’s logic.
It would only take them 3.5 nanoseconds to find another group to villify.
