The link is a video of Sheriff Paul Babeu, Arizona, speaking to Anderson Cooper about the failure's of the ATF's "Fast and Furious" operation. This was a stunning report - Anderson looked shaken by the ineptness of the government.

When you’ve done the research MestaMachine has done, then your opinion would have some weight. Until that time, your opinion is without any merit. Plus it is very telling that you are comparing a great freeper to live leftist crap.
OOPS -
that should be:
Plus it is very telling that you are comparing a great freeper to VILE leftist crap.
The gunwalker program makes sense. It's NOT an accident - it's not a mistake. The facts do NOT support what ATF agents were told and they don't support the new liberal line that Anderson Cooper is putting out. Disinformation gives the illusion the program doesn't make sense.
IMHO Fast and Furious was designed with thought and care - much money and time was put into it...for years. When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable....
It's easy to assume the worst with liberals...

You write: Stop and reconsider that statement. 2000, organized, armed, and completely ruthless persons with prior military service and training could overthrow a small country. A Coup de Tete is far more possible with those arms than without. How amny bandits did Castro have to start?”
uh ya... 2,000 SEMI automatic weapons. SEMI AUTOMATIC! Good lord think a minute about your post. As others have pointed out time and again here: These guys can get FULL AUTOMATIC military grade WEAPONS from a dozen countries shipped in by the truckload for $75 to $100 each while you are convinced they would pop for $700 for a SEMI automatic civilian grade weapon! Unbelievable that you actually may very well BELIEVE what you posted.
Go have another drink..
What makes you think this bunch of Matxists charged their fellow travellers a nickel?
I'll pass on a drink 'cause we'd better have our wits about us.
In countries which barely have a military, or which have one which can be corrupted, 2000 weapons will do nicely for the cannon fodder to haul around. A couple thousand in the right place at the right time in a small country can make or break an operation. Far more has been done with less.
WWI was started with a revolver.
The Rhodesians found out shooting select fire weapons on semi-auto improved fire discipline, and increased the number of kills for the ammo expended.
Vietnam was lousy with SKS variants, which may not have helped the individual troops, but used less ammo, were effective weapons, and killed far too many of our guys.
Besides, the average gunowner is depending on $700 semi-autos to be able to defeat this kind of crap if push comes to shove.
re: Rhodesians and semi auto. Please don’t come here and post drivel from undocumented sources. It isn’t hard to check around and see you are posting stuff that is just plain BS:

Bottom line: The jury will ALWAYS be out on whether semi auto is better than full auto 3 shot bursts than full auto whole magazine. It all depends on how many are coming at you, how many of you there are, how much ammo you have, distance, whether you are considered expendable or someone invested some training in you, and a thousand other variables....
Sheese.

Speaking as One Who Was Not There, but who has spoken to some who were, Preacherman is largely correct. Many of the FALs had a modified safety switch that stopped the lever from being moved to the full auto position, though the FA parts were still intact. But here and there, some troops apparently took it upon themselves to "de-modify" the switch and restore the FA capability, though it was seldom used. It wouldn't surprise me if some who did this were chewed out by their noncoms, but my understanding - gleaned second or third hand - is that the Rhodesians were a bit busy to spend a lot of time checking this.
I recently finished reading Thompson's book Mahohboh, in which he describes using an SLR (Self loading rifle, a FAL knockoff) on elephant cropping missions during his career as a game warden in Rhodesia. He emphasized that he NEVER used the rifle's full auto capability when cropping elephants . . . but the way he wrote things up, the FA capability on his rifle was still intact.
Now maybe all I got were the comments, but they don't make your case.
Admittedly, full auto and burst settings have their place, but that was not the question. The question was one of whether 2000 semi-automatic rifles in the right hands could facillitate a coup de tete, and it sure beats chucking rocks, especially if the American taxpayer picks up the tab.

No the question was WHY would a group intent on fomenting a revolution buy $700 semi auto weapons and $15 magazines when they could get full auto (and yes, they can be set to fire semi automatic or burst so they get more for the buck) for $75 and $2 respectively. Good lord. Your the one who brought up Rhodesia of all countries as discovering “semi automatic is better than full automatic because it makes troops fire more accurate”...If that is the case, I just don’t know why we don’t do a study on whether the old bolt actions were even BETTER at that than even semi automatics because you know,....if you get just ONE SHOT you are sure to make it a good one, eh?......sheese...
TY for the ping. A President stepped down for Watergate and that sorry sack of dung(Obummer) is still in office? How low have we sunk? Sickening!!!
