Tancredo bashes Perry on illegal immigrants and Muslims
KDVR-TV ^ | September 28, 2011 | Staff

In a column for the Daily Caller, Tancredo, who ran twice for his party's presidential nomination in an effort to inject the illegal immigration issue into the larger debate, is slamming Perry for his soft policies on illegal immigration in Texas -- and what Tancredo calls his "Muslim blind spot."

"What is not yet as widely known about Perry is that he extends his taxpayer-funded compassion not only to illegal aliens but also to Muslim groups seeking to whitewash the violent history of that religion," Tancredo writes.

"Perry endorsed and facilitated the adoption in Texas public schools of a pro-Muslim curriculum unit developed by Muslim clerics in Pakistan."

Tancredo cites a study by The Center for Immigration Studies, which shows that 81% of the 279,000 jobs created in Texas in the past four years went to non-citizens, a high number of them illegal aliens, to discredit Perry's central presidential argument -- that he's overseen a 'Texas miracle' of job growth while the national economy continues to decline.

And in 2008, as Tancredo points out, Perry helped expand the Muslim Histories and Culture Project, a teacher-training program spearheaded by Texas Ismailis that introduces Islamic history and culture curricula into Texas schools.

The insiders are laughing at the tea party. SO WHAT? Who the hell cares about the insiders?????

Nov 2012 is for all the marbles and WE SHOULD be carefully examining all of the candidates and ignoring their damned sound bites. Perry's record is fair game and concerning to many of us conservatives.

Tancredo on the other hand was not even re-elected to his seat in DC.

He took a pledge of Term Limits.

I support Tancredo’s views on immigration, but Tancredo has no idea what he is talking about when it comes to curriculum adoption in the State of Texas. Here’s a hint: Perry doesn’t do that job - local, elected school boards actually choose curriculum for their district. In addition, no curriculum can be chosen unless the elected State Board clears it as a possible choice. Perry has no role in those processes.

That said, the curriculum in question is part of the usual toxic multi-culti curriculum found in government schools everywhere.

No wonder the CIA and NSA can't figure out what the Islamofascist are up to. They damn well better not study the enemy. how many of the terrorist since 9-11-2001 have been educated in Texas? The sticking your head in the sand wing is heard from. Know thine enemy. And that includes Tancredo: Tancredo was initially elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in 1976 and served two terms. After working in the United States Department of Education during the Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush Administrations, he was elected to the United States Congress, and served five terms. He decided to not seek re-election in 2008.[2] Tancredo ran for the Republican Party nomination for President in 2007, centering his campaign on the issues of illegal immigration and terrorism. He dropped out of the race in December 2007 to assist former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney in his campaign for the nomination.

As Governor, Perry could have done a helluva lot more about the border than he has.

How do you explain Perry saying that we don't have a heart to be against giving illegals the $22k tuition credits for college - but citizens have to pay full price, hmmmm?

I know Tom and I like Tom. Tancredo gets unhinged from time to time. This is one of those times. When Tancredo gets his nativist back up, he sounds stupid.

I would not use the term nativist.

Tom is proud of his Legal Immigrant Parents

“Perry initiated a teacher-training program on Islamic history and helped to get that curricula introduced into Texas schools”

We have absolutely NO NEED for a class on islamic history in our school. Anything significant pertaining to islam can be covered in a world history class. There’s no standalone Jewish History class or Christian class......kids can learn all they need to know about the ROP by watching them blow up themselves and innocent civilians all over the world...as well as watching all the coverage of 9/11.

And yes, malcontent is the right label for them.

Well, I sure as heck am not content, not with the President, not with Congress and not with the republican part. Include me in as a "malcontent"!

Come on no where did I mention Texans and this wishy washy stuff. Don’t know much about Tancredo, was just looking for some info from the other side. I am a Perry supporter but have been less than happy lately.

Of course Perry and everyone else on that stages record should be examined.

But I think it's playing with fire for the conservatives to ignore Romney while they fight over who should be the conservative standard bearer.

Destroying Romney should have always been job one.

How many debates were there before Perry entered? 3 .. 4 ? did anyone lay a hand on Romney in any of those debates, besides sort of meekly mentioning Romneycare in passing? Why is that? Why didn't Santorum go after Romney with the spittle flying venom that he did Perry? Why with her last dying breath did Bachmann reach out and slap Perry across the face and not Romney? Why does Cain say he wouldn't vote for Perry in the general, but he could vote for Romney?

We are being played.

So, this uber-conservative comes out of hiding to suddenly attack Perry? Romney doesn’t bother him, but he attacks the pro-life, pro-border security candidate? LOL Wonder how much it cost?

Honest disagreement is one thing. The heartless remark was out of line. Perry did apologize for it, albeit a bit late. What is striking to me is all the hardcore conservatives who had their feelings hurt. All I can say is, grow some thicker skin.

The in-state tuition issue, is a states rights issue. Each state has the right to implement whatever laws they deem proper. Texas SB1528 in 2006 amended HB1403 from 2001. No on gets a free ride. Read the bills.

Perry has been fighting the Feds for years on border security. He wants the Feds to do their Constitutional duty and secure the Tex-Mex border. Texas can do some things. Just not EVERYTHING!

“Perry is the Governor of Texas and that includes ALL Texans -— Christians, Jews, Muslims, whatever. They’re all Americans.”

Devout Muslims will _NEVER_ truly be “Americans”.

My opinion, and mine only.

You’re whitewashing Perry.

Just sayin’...

They are more important to Perry than we heartless citizens.
