As speculation brews about a possible Chris Christie bid for the White House, several big names are joining a chorus to persuade him.
Among them is former First Lady Barbara Bush, who recently phoned the New Jersey governor's wife Mary to convince her that the Christie family would be just fine in the White House despite the intense attention, a source told the New York Post.
Mrs Bush joins political heavyweights like former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in asking that he give the presidency a shot.
Despite insisting he won't run, Governor Christie is making the most of the speculation, travelling the country this week raising money for Republicans, rubbing elbows with rainmakers and speaking at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.
Gov Christie's three-state tour is bringing him to Missouri, California and Louisiana - trips paid for by each state's GOP organization.
It will also bring home a lot of money for the New Jersey state Republican Party, which will see proceeds from three fundraisers the governor is hosting.
Talk of Christie entering the 2012 race for the White House ramped up this weekend, pushed in part by Texas Gov.
Rick Perry's shaky debate performance last week, as well as his loss in the Florida straw poll to Godfathers Pizza mogul Herman Cain on Saturday.
While Christie's advisers swatted down the notion that he was reconsidering over the weekend, former Gov. Tom Kean, a longtime Christie mentor and confidant, stirred the pot on Monday.

I wish that all of the former presidents and their wives would stop trying to insert themselves into the process. They had their time in the limelight, and this continued attempt to regain attention and power is inappropriate and undignified.
I am not a Chris Christie fan but he is solidly pro-life (perhaps his only socially conservative value). Unlike Pelosi, Kerry, etc., Christie is a truly devout Catholic.
Christie has many undesirable traits, but being pro-choice isn't one of them.
I use to like Barbara Bush but after her comment about Sarah Palin and this report she needs to clam up. Nobody elected her to anything and her husband...
"She said heavyweight!"
More likely the Bushes don't want any Republican to win so it'll be wide open for Jeb in 2016.
Christie is not a closet RINO. He has been "out" for quite some time.
Yes, in their minds, it’s “his turn”....like that philosophy worked so well on ‘08.
Are we ABSOLUTELY certain that it was not Ann Coulter disguising her voice and saying that she was Barbara Bush?
LOL......good one
It’s time to bring in the big lumber, or lumberer as the case may be. If both Barbara Bush and the local Imam are on your side, how could you go wrong?
LOL!
Her effort was to hurt Perry....trust me. They haven't forgiven Perry for defeating Kay Bailey Hutchison for Gov. They were open about supporting her.
I heard her snide remark and it also really turned me off toward her. I’ve been watching the Bushes in the last year and the more I see what they are up to the more I had to realize they are truly our enemy. Boy, by stating that on a thread a while back I was so creamed by FReepers that appear to still THINK the Bushes care a flip about us peons.
As if I needed more confirmation that Christie is no conservative and not fit for national office.
I won’t say that. Both Bush’s were better than the racist we have in the White House now and the degenerate we had from 1993-2001. That degenarate should have done something about Al Qaeda instead of getting his thrills and they said it was “just” about sex. Like lying, perjury, obstruction and threatening weren’t enough....
But I digress. The simple fact is the days of the Bushes are over. Thank you both, great job #43 in getting rid of that ticking time bomb Hussein but now we have another Hussein in the White House well have to take care of next November.
Tell your Mom not to worry and don’t you, your wife, your brother Jeb or your Dad worry; us conservatives will handle it from now on. Enjoy your retirement. Thanks for keeping a low profile—hope your family can, too!
“Fox reporting Christie is a definite “no”.”
Was it a big fat no?
Rowe and the entire Bush family are deeply sadden.
You had better start thinking of getting a real job, Jeb. The party is over.
I can see it now Skinny VS Fatty
Hey folks Crispie cream isnt that Conserative
MY post was about BABS NOT Christie.
Yes I KNOW he is PRO-LIFE.
Haaaaaaaa LOLROTF
Chris....STAY HOME!!
I don’t believe Christie is physically capable of dealing with a rigorous presidential campaign...and I think even he understands that...
