As I watch the Republican presidential debates, I must admit that we have a great field of candidates running, and if the reports about New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie getting into the race are true, then things will only get more interesting. It is a great field of candidates because America is finally getting a chance to see how truly diverse the Republican party is. After all, take a look at the Democrat party. All you will find is a who's who of the anti-American, communist-reject society.
Although I must admit that there is one person missing from the debate stage, and her absence has left many wondering why. I do know that she is of the belief that times have changed, and that Obama and the Democrats are so toxic that she could enter the race as late as November, or even late December, and still be the one to beat. Recent polls taken of just the conservative base in the Republican party prove her right. She is still the one to beat, and that has the rest of the field a little uneasy, and you can bet that Sarah is on their minds.
When Rick Perry jumped in many were claiming it's all over, but since then he has slipped. Since she won the Iowa straw poll, Michele Bachmann has slipped a bit. Rick Perry even attempted to lock up the Christian right vote before he jumped in, but Sarah Palin is still the choice of over 80% of the Christian conservatives. And guess who will show up en masse if she enters the race? You got it, the conservative Christian base. That is why the country-club Republicans keep touting Romney, or begging

Ain’t you heard all the wishin and hoping going on? They’ll just wish hard enough and the Primary filing deadlines will extend just for Sarah. RIGHT...
Damn if there isn’t more Hoping than at a nobama rally. Hope they change the filing deadline.....
I would vote for her in a minute, but she ain’t getting in.
Bachmann and Santornum (that’s right) are focussed on Mutt’s VP slot.
Do you think the dims can get the turnout they did last time? I don’t see the excitement there for Obama anymore even among his supporters.
I also wonder how many conservatives couldn’t hold their nose and vote for McCain and just stayed home.
I think the key is turnout for both dims and Rs. That has proven to be more important than polls and percentages based on prior elections.
Well some have been fundraising for a very long time so I wouldn't say that's a criteria if or not one is in or out or when. Come to think of it Reagan wasn't in until Novemeber I believe..some don't enter until their war-chest is more than just a promise...a bird in hand is always a good thing.
And you forget perhaps...this election ahead is unlike any other...some will not weigh in until those clearly on stage now are spent.
So no...you just aren't right about this.
Riiight, like it wasn’t fair for the colonials to shoot from behind every rock, tree, and bush at those out in the open redcoats. Sometimes war isn’t fair. And if you think this isn’t war, you are not paying attention.
And calling people stupid and idiot advances the debate how?

Reagan was a serious contender four years before 1980. He had been “in the arena” since his famous speech for Goldwater and his two terms as governor. For all I know, his fundraising at this point in the campaign might have been deficient, but the cost of running for president back then was no doubt less than it is now.
Did you miss her speech in Iowa? She spoke about the evils of crony capitalism (something ALL Americans realize needs to be crushed) and spoke of a practical 5 point plan for restoring the country. Even the NYT were impressed. Since her emails came out, the ones that were supposed to be the ultimate gotcha she hasn’t had to defend herself at all.
Cindie
Maybe she's just seeing how many of her supporters are in it for the long haul....she's testing more than just the candidates.....
No matter how anybody, anywhere, spins what's Palin doing or not doing...she'll do when and if at her own pleasure....amazing fortitude to remain undeclared with the heat from media and those here on FR.. and even among her supposed loyal supporters at one time.
One amazing crafty, tenacious and remarkable woman to have this nations attention, and the worlds for that matter, be it for her or against her.... as soon as she even peeps out of her domain all eyes and ears want to know what she is up to next...and next...and next......
I agree with you. The current format seems designed to prevent any real discussion of issues and its funny to see them scrambling whenever a debate actually threatens to break out.
Questions are asked usually from a Dem mindset, and usually only a couple of candidates are allowed to answer a given question before moving on to another question, to which again only a couple get to answer. And they get all of a minute to answer. Pitiful.
We do live in a different time then Reagans...that’s for certain...and thus this election will indeed have it’s surprises....regardless I have no doubt should Palin run...which she’s been doing for years....money will not be an issue.
Why must her not getting in yet be an excuse? All campaigns have strategies. This happens to be hers. And again, tone it down. There’s no reason you can’t respond like an adult. Though I honestly think you’re very young because I’m having trouble with your incoherence.
Cindie
Some strategies are better than others.
I listened to some of his arguments at the time, so I remember what he was trying to do.
But sometimes he's too clever for his own good. His PSA with Pelosi will live in infamy. Likewise his support for Scozzofava falls into that category.
I like him but he's not infallible. When he does a pratfall its big.
Her emails were definitely a non-story. As for “crony capitalism”, I guess she reads National Review as WSJ as well. Whoop.
It’s a heck of a lot more than that. If that’s what you think (it was one show in years of campaigning, television appearances, speeches (here & abroad), white papers (see facebook where they’re available for all the world to see), two books, television news pundit, etc. Look, there’s not a thing wrong with thinking she’s not the right person for the job that’s what primaries are for. But considering how important she was in getting so many conservatives elected around the country and as hard as she campaigned for other people, your comment is a little shallow.

Which of course, bears no resemblance to an actual debate. What we're watching, can best be described as an MSM inquisition, or group interrogation of the GOP candidates. Like you said, the mods scramble immediately to squelch any actual debate between the candidates.
What they will allow, are sniping attacks between candidates, because (in my opinion) that furthers their agenda to knock all of the GOP candidates down to Obama's level.
I think Palin already knew what these 'debates' would really be about, and wisely steered clear of them. The only ones who are gaining any mileage out of them, are in the second tier.
Knock down the front runners, and elevate the back of the pack. I think the MSM's plan is coming together perfectly, don't you?
Drink!
It gives the sensation of a debate without any real debate taking place. Its rather equivalent to MSM's "news" coverage, in which they give the impression they are informing you without actually informing you. Rather like sugar cereal. On a good day.
