In the aftermath of his big Florida straw poll victory, Herman Cain appeared on Fox with Neil Cavuto, who asked Cain to respond to actor Morgan Freemans contention that the Tea Party was based on racism. Cain, who is a favorite at Tea Party events and who owed his remarkable victory yesterday to Tea Party activism, told Cavuto that being a great actor doesnt always equate to having a grasp on reality. Cain declined to take offense, as Newsbusters reports, and instead focused on the desperation from the old-guard hard Left who just assumed that the race card was a winning trump that was exclusively theirs:
NEIL CAVUTO: Morgan Freeman, the actor, has been very critical of Tea Parties, and said that what theyre doing is racist based, and going after and unseating Obama has at its underpinnings racism. Im paraphrasing here, but what do you make of that argument?
HERMAN CAIN: Well, first of all, I doubt if Morgan Freeman, with all due respect, who is a great actor, has he ever been to a Tea Party? Most of the people that are criticizing the Tea Parties, Neil, about having a racist element, they have never been to a Tea Party.
CAVUTO: But wait a minute, wait a minute. He has played, wait, wait, wait. He has played a President of the United States.
CAIN: Oh. Great, yeah, in a movie. This is real life out here on the campaign trail, man. This is not a movie.
CAVUTO: So, are you offended by that?
CAIN: No, Im not offended by it. I just, I just think that it is sad that theyre so short-sighted in really understanding what the whole Tea Party citizen movement is all about.

Havent actually taken the time to look at Cain, but I must admit this is an impressive guy.
He’s been my #1 choice from the beginning. Take a good look at him!
ME TOO! HE has my vote.
” CAIN, A REAL AMERICAN “
LOL! He left out the Bless his heart. :)
I just told my wife as I was perusing down the thread he should talk like Sarah, by saying those very words. You beat me to it this time I guess. Saying that, I also say, “God Bless Herman Cain.”
Hardly. If you look at his response it was about him, not the conservative movement.
God Bless Herman Cain.
Amen!
People being euphoric doesn’t fix the problem. You have no basis whatever to say Cain can fix our economy, other than he’ll try something different than our current resident.
Isn't he that septuagenarian perv who married his 21-year old step-granddaughter?
Why yes! I think it is!
I do have basis to believe that Cain would talk to us directly from the heart without a teleprompter and he would listen to us as well. Works for me!
After thinking that Romney and Perry were our only options, I am sticking to euphoric.
That is one class act of a human being. (NOT talking about “Morgan Freeman”!)
Thanks mandaladon.
Why he tells them pengies what to do and they do it!
In just a few sentences Cain effectively painted Freeman as ignorant, and defended the Tea Party with geniality and grace. He completely outclassed, de-venomized, and dismissed the charge. Morgan Freeman's attack has been flicked away.
I am not an activist. I am a ordinary 54 yr old woman with a 4 yr business degree. On Fri. I drive alone to Orlando to the CPAC conference. I liked Cain but was not necessarily supporting him.
I happened to have the opportunity to hear him talk. As I was leaving I had an Epiphany. He absolutely can win. His solutions were common sense and non political.
We need a honest no nonsense electable conservative that is capable of solving the massive economic problems. One additional necessary ingredients: EXCITEMENT ENERGY ENTHUSIASM. We got it with Cain. He had seven standing ovations at the Fla. Straw poll. Did you see the euphoric faces of the delegates when his name was called?
In addition he can absolutely clean Obamas clock in a debate. Google you tube for Clinton and Cain. He had ole Bills head spinning a few years back.
Do not believe the establishment talking heads like rove kristol or their ilk. Never again will they tell me who the nominee will be. Cain is not an anomoly. They are going to do their best to marginal him.
All I ask is do your homework. The more I did, the more I like him. If by chance you endorse him, be prepared to fight our own side. Never again will I hold my nose to vote for the political machine. I want a problem solver. No more career blow hards.
Go Cain.
You haven’t vetted your own candidate. Says a lot about you.
Every time a Hollywood actor steps out on his political views it’s enough to make one throw-up! Many of them are completely in Obamas pocket doing his bidding and it just sickens me they are even given a stage to voice their opinions.
They all need to stick to the make-believe roles they play never-mind role playing for a polticial audiance. But then Washington and Hollywood are joined at the hip now...and no wonder they both live in a world of their own making.
The logical conclusion I came to, Freeper, was:
HERMAN CAIN
And people who know me on FR do know I don't generally make such decisions lightly, but only after considerable deliberation, watching these guys (and gal) speak and examining their records, analyzing their "fire in the belly"-level, flip-flop index and the like.
Go Herman Cain!
And enough of these Freepers who are probably already committed to other candidates writing "I like Herman Cain, BUT ("he can't win, he doesnt have experience, yadayadayadayada")" So old hat and tiresome. I wish to h*** they would just zip it and get out of the way if they aren't going to help, but just be naysayers in the peanut gallery.
Sorry, I read his response, too. Cain will be a afterthought until he makes it clear that there are many issues in this country. Cronyism, outrageous regulations, reverse-racism. He’s playing it close to the vest. It’s a mistake. He has to make a stand for something. That’s basic politics.
