And I forgot to add a big old “THANK YOU!” for bringing that to my attention. Though, I am still leary of the “transition” because history shows that the transition NEVER gives more than a fleeting moment of Freedom, the next administration is ALWAYS only a few years away, and they may not finish the transition. I highly doubt that if something is not done withone 1-2 years that it will be done at all, and if it is to be done in one to two years, that the need may not exsist. But either way, I’m glad to know that Cain’s objective is still to transition to the FairTax, that makes me feel better.

After scraping the current tax system he sets up a national income tax of 9%. You now pay what out of your current income? Then, only on things you purchase you pay 9%. That is only on things you actually purchase. Figure it out, at most you would only pay 18% if you spent every dime you make on things you purchase. That doesn’t exclude things like your house. Have you looked at the current rates?

“I’ve seen this fallacy repeated as fact all over FR the past couple days, that Florida’s straw poll, like others, is meaningless.”

it’s not meaningless if it can raise national attention to Herman Cain

People voted for an untested and inexperienced candidate in 2008, and the country is sinking due to that inexperience. It is extremely unlikely they are going to vote for another inexperienced, novice politician to lead the biggest country in the world.

Sarah Palin likes Herman Cain

Palin said similar nice things about Perry and Bachmann. I hope Cain supporters don't start taking these comments out of context like Bachmann and especially Perry supporter did.

“(I don’t generally like to use the word stupid for fellow Freepers, third grade spelling/grammar errors aside)”

You mean like “..... instead of “...” I have already replied to you, but you obviously hadn’t seen it (as I was unfinished). I’m not going to run something through spell check everytime I post, and I was replying to the rude poster, in kind, to the way I was addressed. Save your third grade lessons for a third grader.

Well, let’s look at this another way...

If Sarah Palin called him a “politican” he would be hurt, embarrased and offended!

Yes, but the lesser of two evils, is still evil. Any any event, Cain has changed/updated his plan. When I first went to his website, he had no “Phase 2” transitioning to the FairTax. While I still do NOT like the idea of both tax systems at once (the road to hell is paved with good intentions), I can at least see where he is moving towards, now that he has published a further plan. I don’t believe in Tax Breaks for “Empowerment Zones” either, as all should be equal under law, but no plan is perfect in every regard.

The voting delegate section was secured from visitors and guests. There were upward of 1000 delegates that did not vote based on the total ballots, and there were about that many empty seats in the delegate section of the auditorium. The ballots were handed out and collected by each county delegate chairman. This consisted of passing the ballots down the rows. In our row, we were short one ballot, reported the need for one more, and received it.

It was clear by Friday night that Cain would easily finish in the top three based on my own observations and discussions with fellow delegates. By Saturday afternoon, it was very clear Cain would win the straw poll by delegate reactions to his speech. Cain had more standing ovations than the other candidates or their reps combined.

“These “30 second sound bite” solutions sound great until the reality of the political world hits you in the face: Once you introduce a tax, you can NEVER get rid of it.”

Exactly, you hit the nail on the head. I have never seen the government transition to anything, other than from bad to worse. Cain may not be a politician, but there are 535 politicians he will have to work with, and if the FairTax is passed (It includes a provision for a Constitutional amendment), he’ll have to get past a further 3/4 of state legislatures.

mark my words

the media will take what they did to Palin and double down on it to destroy Cain.

We have a lot of Neville Chamberlains in the Republican party when it comes to people wanting to throw Palin to the lions and hope the lion is no longer hungry enough to come after them. its pure heartless cowardism

You bring up a good point. I suppose that the issue of the U.S. military and how it could/should be used/funded/handled is a whole topic that may never be resolved.

My point was that there doesn’t have to be a snipe war between the two camps. Both are good candidates and most of us would be happy with either as our nominee.
