Q: What about a nationwide concealed weapons bill?

A: Here’s how I’d like that done: Let each state pass a concealed weapon bill. Empower the states—some states already have it—and not have a federal mandate. I believe in the Second Amendment.

That's fine as far as it goes. That's pretty much what is in play right now and I think it's quite successful. But what is his reaction in the case of the diehard gun ban holdout Illinois? Well, it's states rights. But it's not. It violates the due process and equal protection clauses of the 14th Amendment. Again, he doesn't have to meddle in the states affairs BUT he does have to stop them from trampling on the US Constitution!
