Perry: "I Don't Think You Have a Heart" If You Oppose In-State Tuition for Children of Illegal

Full title: Perry: "I Don't Think You Have a Heart" If You Oppose In-State Tuition for Children of Illegal Immigrants

Perry's response was forceful and personal. "I don't think you have a heart," Perry told his critics.

"If you say that we should not educate children who come into our state for no other reason than that they've been brought their through no fault of their own, I don't think you have a heart," Perry said. "We need to be educating these children because they will become a drag on our society. I think that's what Texans wanted to do. Out of 181 members of the Texas legislature when this issue came up [there were] only four dissenting votes. This was a state issue. Texas voted on it. And I still support it today."

.... Rush did seem to be giving Perry a bunch of cover yesterday.

IMO I expect that Rush will be forced to support (shill?) for Ricardo Perry for at least a little longer since Rush now has a vested interest and a stake in the Governor. Personally I believe Rush was cringing last night while watching the debate and will be trying to come up with some good spin control come Monday while putting Perry on notice to quit putting his feet into his mouth so often.

How long Rush will continue trying to cover for his chosen dark haired boy is anyones guess at the moment. I also think Rush will consider it a challenge to pull Perry up by his shirt collar out of the trash can Perry dove into last night. Maybe Perry should put a zipper on his big mouth for awhile.

Perry’s done, he lost bigtime last night and I for one am glad. Watch for several new folks to get into the race soon, and Newt Gringrich, don’t count him out, he’s the darkhorse in this race ...

Frankly, I like Bachmann, but think Gringrich/Cain would be an awesome ticket.

I am not without compassion for these kids who are here because their parents brought them when they were children.

I just feel there should not be even more subsidy to them that they have already received through all the other government services they have likely received before college.

It is not a matter of numbers but of principles. If they want help with tuition, let them serve in the military and earn citizenship.

I blame our government at all levels who have accommodated and subsidized illegals to the detriment of American born citizen children, a lot of who BTW can’t afford college either.

There were only 4 no votes in Texas? They can’t even pass instate tuition in Massachusetts and the legislature is 90% Rat!

Their parents should have thought about that before breaking the law to get here. Send every lawbreaker home.

I too like Bachmann a lot and was my choice a few months back but I realize that even if Perry were to drop out today it would not do much to help her numbers. She has been marginalized so badly that she most likely could not recover. She needs some executive experience and maybe in four more years she would do better. Maybe she should run for Governor of her state or the US Senate in her state.

Perry’s done, he lost big time last night and I for one am glad.

Yep, I think Perry mortally wounded himself not only last night but also by his foolish attack on the seniors and their SS. At least that is the growing belief in the senior community. His words were poorly chosen in his attacks on the seniors. If he doesn't drop out now it will only be a matter of time before he does as he is increasingly prone to making outrageous and/or foolish public statements that undermine his credibility and electability factor. He seems to be in self-destruct mode - and that is good for America!

What about the "heart for the poor and middle-income taxpayers in TX?"

Does the good Gov. Perry care about those taxpayers who he's forcing to foot the bill for those "children who've been brought into his state through no fault of their own?"

Does he care about those who were born in TX "through no fault of their own" and now have fewer jobs, less opportunity and less money, thanks to his "heart?"

This is the exact same thinking of the Bush family - compassion for others though the taxpayers' jobs, education and money!

I started researching this guy when he first announced and nothing I found told me to support him. Nothing has changed. He is not the one this country needs.

“Who the hells ass is this guy kissin?”

####

Just an uninformed guess, but I would surmise it is Texas contractors, and businesses of all sorts, who profit hugely from cheap Mexican labor.

Oh I doubt Trump will be serious if he steps up again, more that he'll stir the soup as he did before. He's just interesting to watch and does seem to call it like it is without concern for how the public will see him.

I have no problem with putting troops on the border...it's a war going on there not just immigration issues...But the Gov. has to identify the serious problem of vast numbers of "others" Hispanics flooding in. Those numbers are nothing to blink at but that's exactly what Obama does.

MAny in south american countries are being taught spanish and change their names to mexican names....hizbollah and hamas Alkidah and other terrorists are coming thru at alarming rates, with Iran and Chavaz helping them to infilitrate...they are also joining up with cartells...and various gangs...and coming in across the Texan border as the favorite since Arizon established new laws.

"Perry has pretty much always signed bills when the Legislature was almost 100% unanimous. He should have provided more explanation tonight. He always owns up to his actions...."Too bad, Perry can't stand up to his own fellow Texans to say what is wrong, is wrong, not matter how "compassionate" it sounds.

This the same thinking that goes into Bush or anyone else, who puts his names to bills on the premise, that "they've got enough votes to override my veto."

So what, doing the right thing, for the right reason, is the right thing to do!

The people will respect you at the end of the day but most of all, you can respect yourself!

Maybe I should post pics of our Kevlar vests. LOL. I wish I had made it up. It was that bad there.

And anyone who thinks I want Romney elected hasn’t read any of my posts, LOL.

Manyillegals plan and purposely get ‘free airfare’ to their home countries for Holidays or vacations by turning themselves in when they want to return home...then they come back thru the border stream as before. Round and round it goes. There simply is no reason for this insanity...none.

I am for arming Border patrols and Military to shoot those who cross.

Heck we have military training camps where illegals cross their fields while they’re training and our guys can only watch....they cross right in front of them knowing there is nothing our guys can do to them.

how many Mexicans do you think there are in Texas?

- - - - -
Too many. We don’t even drive through TX if we can avoid it and I have a CCW that is valid there.

The crime rates at the border towns are staggering.

Go to the grocery store and watch as a 18 y.o. pregnant woman argues in Spanish with the Stater Brothers market manager to get her entire WIC allotment while three burly men twice her age are threatening in the background...(personally witnessed... the store manager capitulated and let them have the entire month allotment).

- - - - -
Yep, sounds about right.

Lets say you were dragged here by your parents when you were 5 and you grew up in Texas and believed you were a Texan and you worked hard and graduated from Texas high school and got good enough grades to get into a Texas State University, what should Texas do to you? Send you back to Mexico, a country you've never been to? Deport you? (BTW only the Federal Government can deport you)?

Perfect summary of the issue. A majority of Americans will not punish children for the crimes of the parents. The long term answer is to control immigration, but we will never get support for that if our position is we should deport children who were raised here.

Those “kids” aren’t going to be beneficiaries of the Texas Dream Act. You do realize that the only kids who benefit are high school grduates who are going to college?

- - - -
Hogwash. C-school kids are also ‘graduates’ and I know at least one college who lowered admission standards for illegals.

My mother has called the police several times and they did nothing, except threaten to arrest her.

I am smart, and I’ve lived with this crud most of my life. That is how I know that these criminals will get into to colleges (and likely preferential treatment) under the ‘dream act’.

BTW, both of those ‘kids’ were in college.
