Full title: Perry: "I Don't Think You Have a Heart" If You Oppose In-State Tuition for Children of Illegal Immigrants
Perry's response was forceful and personal. "I don't think you have a heart," Perry told his critics.
"If you say that we should not educate children who come into our state for no other reason than that they've been brought their through no fault of their own, I don't think you have a heart," Perry said. "We need to be educating these children because they will become a drag on our society. I think that's what Texans wanted to do. Out of 181 members of the Texas legislature when this issue came up [there were] only four dissenting votes. This was a state issue. Texas voted on it. And I still support it today."

Rush better rip this idiot tomorrow.
Depends on what’s being said. If it’s the same tired and ran into the ground crap we all heard 1000 times or dragging her name into debates just to use her as a prop, then it shouldn’t come as a shock. If it’s a legit issue, I’m all for discussion.
>>If Perry is such a louse, why was he elected Governor of Texas?<<
I’ll give you a hint: how many Mexicans do you think there are in Texas?
WAKE UP.
Most illegals I know squat in abandoned homes, out of state ownership homes or winter only homes. They don’t pay property tax of any kind. Not buying it.
That was clear as mud.
Not much point in that. You did say we were a lost cause remember?
Santorum did well in the debate. He could consolidate some of the vote from Cain and Gingrich and the governors of UT and NM if/when they drop out.
Cain all the way
>>I’m with Perry on this, and I’m a native Texan.<<
You are on the wrong forum. Free Republic is a conservative forum.
Weakness on illegal immigration is a liberal position.
There was a point in time when we pretty much didn't care. These were nice people, they did not take government services. They were hard working and the best of them became citizens after the Reagan amnesty and proudly built wonderful small businesses that enhanced the community.
Something changed in the 1990's. Sanctuary cities, motor voter... Federal mandates to the States to support illegals... healthcare, WIC, foodstamps...education (no child left behind). Our communities were flooded with illegals.
Loosening of banking and loan requirements allowed them to buy homes with no credit???? Vehicles also!
WTH!
Go to the grocery store and watch as a 18 y.o. pregnant woman argues in Spanish with the Stater Brothers market manager to get her entire WIC allotment while three burly men twice her age are threatening in the background...(personally witnessed... the store manager capitulated and let them have the entire month allotment).
Totally screwed up... started in the Clinton years and exacerbated under Bush, because the GOP FEARED the consequences of the Latino vote. It all comes down to politics for these folks.
Nope. It’s the truth. Sorry you don’t agree. Anyone looking with a desire to see reality can see it just fine. What is Mr Speaker to LaRaza doing? Oh yes, opening up the roads to 18 tired deathtraps. TTC anyone? And I have spent a few thousand miles driving Mex 1...You want that here? Better odds getting rich in Vegas.
Well there are other choices besides Romney and Perry..and if Palin runs even more then. who knows Trump may determine to step in again for all wwe know!
At this point Newt looks good as well despite his personal life and "other" questionable behavior. He loves our country and would certainly mop Obama all over the floor in any debate. But I have to look closer at how he sees immigration issues.
Had an illegal not taken you seat in class it would have made more sense I suppose...
>>It’s going to be interesting to listen how old Rushbo is going to try and spin this foot-n-mouth disease remark by Perry on Fridays broadcast.<<
Me too. Rush has disappointed me with his Perry cheerleading, and he is WELL aware of this flaw in Perry.
Don’t spin it, Rush! I respect you, you’re the greatest. I want to continue to respect you.
I have faith that Rush will call Perry out on this crap.
“Ill give you a hint: how many Mexicans do you think there are in Texas?”
and you have to be a Republican to win in Texas
I can accept that those reps faithfully represented the views of the state. But that only means the rest of us have a serious problem with what is viewed as acceptable. A US citizen from a neighboring state pays more for college in Texas than does an illegal alien? There’s something wrong about that situation that people outside of Texas can see pretty clearly.
Perry is offering us George Bush Part Deux.
That’s rough. We were lucky. We didn’t buy when we were in San Diego b/c hubby was in law school. After that we moved back to our hometown and took care of his grandmother and her house so we didn’t have to buy.
We got out as soon as he decided he didnt’ want to practice law in CA. We now own a nice house in a small town in a state that has almost zero illegals, no personal income tax, and proud conservative Americans.
Those "kids" aren't going to be beneficiaries of the Texas Dream Act. You do realize that the only kids who benefit are high school grduates who are going to college?
Anyone who threatens your mother with a baseball bat should be shot and if they survive they should be deported.
I thought you were smarter than this.
WTF are you talking about?
Another batshitcrazy poster.
Stop wasting my time!
Bingo
