Santorum: Perry 'ignores reality'[“I’ve forgotten more -- than Rick Perry knows about Israel]

Rick Santorum lambasted Rick Perry as a lightweight on Israel policy Tuesday, dismissing Perry’s speech in New York as boilerplate rhetoric crafted by political handlers.

“I’ve forgotten more about Israel than Rick Perry knows about Israel,” Santorum said during a conversation with POLITICO on Tuesday, while Perry was addressing a rally of people opposed to the Palestinian statehood vote in New York. “There he is, reading a speech, that I’m sure he didn’t write, and has never taken a position on any of this stuff before, and [the media is] taking this guy seriously.”

....He even hit Fox News, his former employer, for lavishing so much attention on Perry: “Fox News is a dog following the squirrel.”

.....“When they say they don’t like the pack, they’re not talking about me,” Santorum said.

He remains confident — and he’s fully grounded in reality in feeling that way.

“I’ll do a blood test and pee in a cup,” he joked.

In 2004, Santorum and Bush both threw the real conservative, Pat Toomey under the bus for the old demonRAT/pubbie/scottishlawman snarlen arlen and Toomey lost the primary by 2 votes per voting precinct.

Two years later, Santorum came back to PA, and claimed to be Mr. conservative, and it was a bad year for squishy pubbies and many real conservatives tuned Rick out.

I voted for him but didn't work for him and I know that many real conservatives were turned off by his turning on Pat Toomey.

I'll never work for Santorum, if he gets the pubbie nod, I'll vote for him, but that's it for me.

HA! I love it! And excellent pix of Santorum, too!

Look at #19. I think Santorum just resents that he did what Bush asked and that Perry didn’t. And now, the choices they each made in the past has shaped their futures.

Your PA history is of course correct - which makes his “look at me, I”m the real conservative around here and always have been” act very suspect as well as off-putting.

I agree with Santorum on most issues, but he is not standard bearer material, pure and simple. Has no “it” factor and this frustrates him (can’t blame him) - and his frustration comes out in the “look at me” childish tantrums.

“It factor” is a harsh and unfair and unforgiving thing, but in politics or acting, you either have it or you don’t. Its not his fault, but he doesn’t have it.

What a pathetic display of jealousy. Rick...grow up. Perry is helping himself, yes, but also hurting Obama with NY Jews in particular and the American People in general. Why bash him? And Fox chasing him? It’s called “frontrunner”.

Santorum is an o.k. guy, but he’s out of league indeed and in his LAST political campaign, lost to a Democrat.

Not a strong selling point here.

He’s probably mad that the Bachmann-Santorum debate tag-team didn’t work the way they’d hoped.

This is totally, self-inflicted bad press for Santorum.

Think you have it right. The key here is what the old man thinks. He imagines himself as the Godfather of the GOP in Texas. Perry was too much his own man,and so GHW is throwing his weight behind Romney.

Second declension (masculine), genitive plural.

Darned if I know what a Santus is, however.

I’m beginning to believe that Bachmann and Santorum are competing for a chance at the VP spot should Romney be the nominee. Romney will need a prolife conservative on the ticket. However, I think that Tim Pawlenty has a better shot.

Appalling rhetoric from someone who has “zero” chance of becoming the nominee, let alone the President. Why would he do it? Temper tantrum? Romney stooge?

He is so over his head...I can’t even believe FoxNews has invited him to this debate or Huntsman. They both are taking up space with the questions and with their answers. They need to be moved out of any future debates.

What an @$$h***, shooting off his mouth on something he knows nothing about. No wonder Santorum lost by 20 points last time he ran for reelection.

Man, first Michelle Bachman beclowns herself and now Santorum does the same. Although they both have their positives, neither is very presidential.

I vote in Pennsylvania, and Santorum always got my vote.

But now he’s just another addition to a long list of Pennsylvania embarassments including Specter, Murtha, Casey, Rendell, Kanjorski, etc.
