BOSTON (CBS) Kara Kennedy, the only daughter of the late Senator Edward Kennedy, has died.
A Kennedy family friend confirmed to WBZ NewsRadio 1030 that the 51-year-old Kennedy passed away after reportedly suffering a heart attack.
In 2009, she accepted the Medal of Freedom on behalf of her father, who was home battling cancer.
Kennedy battled lung cancer in the past, but her cancer had been in remission since 2003.
Indeed an ugly business by the families
And sister Rosemary who was lobotomized, some say unnecessarily.
Were you a Dem?
Yes, I was a Dem in my youth since my parents were.
I think it means he married a Kennedy.
Wow, just saw the CNN photo of her - looks about 80 if you just look at her skin.
Very sad she had teen kids.
That is true. I am a Catholic and I went to a Catholic school all my life. Among other things, we were taught (ie Baltimore Catechism circa. 1950s) that interfaith (mixed) marriage was a major no no, absolutely forbidden. My own mother-in-law (now 93) refused to attend the marriage of one of her sisters because she was marrying a Lutheran! In this day and age it's hard to believe things were ever as stringent as that, but they were. Things have changed quite a bit since then.
That being said, it's hard for me to understand how family members good be so cold in their treatment of Kathleen as it relates to her marriage and especially her death. Rose in particular, while her devotion to her faith is admirable, must have been a really cold piece of work to forever turn her back on her own child. Religion not withstanding, as a mom I don't know that it would be in me to do that.

RIP.
I’m very sorry for everything you had to go through. God bless you...
my mistake actually...yes it was a heart attack...at the gym...it happens
I was wrong about the cancer...bet she left kids still needing a mother..shame
her face looked like a smoker
You're right, it is a shame. The boys are about 15 and 17. Being teens isn't easy.
