I have a letter from my ggg-grandmother to her son (gg-grandpa) asking him if he still voted Republican. This was dated in the early 1860s, during the Civil War, before she passed away. I don’t have his answer but he was an admirer of Abe Lincoln. :)

J W H are the initials carved on the walking stick we have, but I’m not sure exactly which sibling that is, and my husband is sleeping (he’ll kill me for not knowing the answer) so I can’t ask him.
It’s kind of ironic that with that heritage he now lives in Virginia, oh and he used to live in Texas and before that Arizona - all of that by choice, he didn’t choose to be born in Massachusetts.
