All of NYC has changed a lot over the years. None of it for the good IMHO.

I hear ya. I don't live in NYC, but live close enough to have seen many changes there over my lifetime (I've lived in NJ and CT).

Actually parts of NYC are a LOT better now than than back during the 1970s...

I use to HATE going into the city when you were accosted by all the window-washer/pan-handlers at every intersection. Guiliani got rid of that, and what a relief! I loved it in the mid/late 50s, when you could walk the streets at night — with no fear. But that is the same all over, I guess — not just NYC.
