I'm dumbfounded that so many think Greta and Palin accused Perry of doing it to profit himself for $5000. If I recall, neither the campaign donation nor the dollar figure was brought up at all in the interview -- I only watched it once, so I may be mistaken, but I don't think so. What WAS brought up was the fact that Perry's Chief of Staff, for crying out loud -- not a minor staffer, but his Chief of Staff!!, was a paid lobbyist for Merck.
Frankly, for Palin to take this bull by the horns, impresses me very much, especially if she gets in the race. I really, really hope she runs, because Palin will get the crossover and independent votes that Perry would alienate.
That so many are so quick to mistakenly summarize it as accusing Perry of doing it for money in the form of campaign donations, is just ... very disappointing. "Crony capitalism" is about "you pat my back, I'll pat yours," and ASIDE from it being against limited government conservative principle in the first place to advocate such a vaccine, the fact that Perry's Chief of Staff was a Merck lobbyist should have you more worried about Perry than about Palin.
I'm disappointed, but it's with folks other than Palin. I'm as impressed with Palin as ever. I really, really hope she runs, because if she does, SHE WILL WIN.
Please consider my post #241.
I think you are all wrong to be disappointed. I think you should be CHEERING her.
Thats a lie. Neither of my boys have taken vaccines. Quit yapping and spreading lies.
Anyone willing to risk four more years of obama over a three term governor of what is one of the best states in the country is the one who belongs at DU. I can see going after Romney and Giuliani but the viciousness directed toward Perry is over the top in my opinion. The only person this helps is obama. I guess you don't want him out as bad as I do.
Imagine if Obama were to mandate Gardasil shots. There would be so many angry posts it’d break the internet.
Your defense proves my point.
See, he put the cart before the horse. That means it wasn’t tested enough.
Perhaps we could just force the guys to get the vaccine and the women wouldn’t have to worry;)
Good for you. How did you get out of it?
because unlike the others your actions determine if you get hpv it is a std not polio
What you think Perry just magically become a millionaire?
care to explain :

It's called a strawman. The most common object on the internet; and probably the most common object in politics.
I didn't watch the debate, but in the highlights on the news there was one exchange with Romney that really caught my attention. Romney was talking about job creation in TX and said Perry had been given 4-Aces. Perry responded "you were doing well until you started talking about Poker".
The crowd laughed, Perry was smiling, even Romney was smiling.
It struck me that this is a guy that is comfortable and quick on his feet. I'm not drawing a comparison, but Reagan was like this. He was friendly, smiled and as he cracked the joke he eviscerated his opponent.
I hope you don't mind the abuse coming your way.
Beautiful post, the whole thing.
I did indeed watch the entire Palin/Greta interview.
What Bachmann and Palin did was disgusting. They are attacking the candidate most likely to beat the Crony Capitalist King (Obama) by questioning his integrity. Palin, of all people, should know better. Bachmann apparently is too stupid to know better.
The Palin/Perry - Perry/Palin ticket is dead. However the Romney/Palin ticket appears to be a much more plausible scenario. Especially after last night.
They aren't free ~ you simply imagine them to be free because you are deep into the Socialist trick bag.
Finding responsible owners for roads by allowing them to charge tolls is a great idea. Just think of what GM would be today if the government had not treated it like a public utility ~ their assets would have been sold off to responsible owners who would have immediately put them to work in the best possible way. Instead, the government bailed out the unions ~ and what we have now is a part of a car company that can't sell its stuff.
That kinda explains Sarah Palin's support of McCain in the primary and her cheerleading for the biggest crony capitalism bill of all time, TARP.
