Greta Interview with Palin and Bachman: Disgusting innuendo about Perry

I saw the GOP debate and the Greta interview with Palin and Bachman. I am absolutely against Perry's mandate of the Gardasil vaccine. On policy grounds. Period.
But, to see the two ladies pile on with corruption charges against Perry was truly disgusting. If they have any proof that Perry mandated the vaccine to profit Merck, I am the first one who wants it. And, if proof emerges that he did so, I will be the first one to revoke my support for him.
It happens in the industry all the time. Acquaintances get you an audience. So, in this case, the fact that Perry's previous staffer was a lobbyist must have gotten the meeting. A meeting to hear about this wonderous cancer curing drug. Nothing corrupt about it. Is there more to the reason Perry made such a call? Possible/Probable. Evidence of it? None so far.
Come on. Do Palin and Bachman have to resort to gutter politics to get themselves better positioned?

"The vaccine, Gardasil, is manufactured by Merck,
which was represented in Austin by the lobbyist Mike Toomey,
who was chief of staff for Mr. Perry from 2002 to 2004. "
2007
On 2/7/07, the WSJ reported that Merck was desperate for cash.
With estimates that the settlements Merck will owe for its Vioxx litigation
will amount to approximately $970 million, and the expiration of some of its patents,
Merck faces a huge cash flow problem.
But if Gardasil is mandated, Merck will generate sales of approximately
$1 billion in the first year alone, with 5 year revenue projections of up to $4 billion"
2007
In 2007, when Texas governor Rick Perry issued
an executive order that all girls entering the 6th grade
would receive Gardasil, parents were furious.
Some argued that the vaccine would promote promiscuity.
The order was eventually overturned."
"Critics rip Perry's vaccine mandate
Governor rejects opponents' calls to reverse order
AUSTIN - Gov. Rick Perry stood firm Monday against a political firestorm generated by his
order that sixth-grade girls be inoculated against a sexually transmitted virus linked to cervical cancer.
Social conservatives from Texas to Washington called on Perry to reverse his order making
Texas the first state to require the vaccine, saying the mandate makes sex seem permissible
and that parents should be the ones to decide whether to immunize their daughters.
And several Texas lawmakers expressed outrage at Perry for circumventing the legislative process. "
"RP65 - Relating to the immunization of young women
from the cancer-causing Human Papillomavirus.
Friday, February 02, 2007 o Executive Order
BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF TEXAS
Rules. The Health and Human Services Executive Commissioner
shall adopt rules that mandate the age appropriate vaccination
of all female children for HPV prior to admission to the sixth grade."
The definition of mandate is a command by a person,
group, or organization (the 'mandator') to another
(the 'mandatary') to act in a particular way, or here
to ingest, inject, imbed a poison or other substance
they do not want and for which informed consent was
never taken.
BACKGROUND
There are over 40 Types of HPV, and 15 of them
have been linked to cervical cancer and/or genital warts.
Gardasil has been developed to vaccinate
against the 4 Types that have the highest
correlation with cancer and genital warts.
However, unlike the smallpox vaccine, for example,
Gardasil does not grant full immunity to those 4 Types of HPV.
Gardasil offers no protection against the other
11 strains of HPV that have been linked to cervical cancer. "
2009
Merck and the Gardasil Vaccine Show Us the Money
First there was the news that Gardasil sales had dropped by 16% in 2008.
As CNBCs Mike Huckman bluntly put it,
From the third quarter of last year to the fourth quarter
Gardasil sales fell off a cliff
Merck officials said part of the Gardasil problem
is that so many 11-18 year-old females have already been
inoculated that they're running out of new customers.
And the 19-26 year-old population continues to be a marketing challenge."
2010
The main problem with Gardasil seems to be the equivalent of a design flaw.
To be completely immunized, women have
to get a series of three shots over six months.
Many women don't.
The Centers for Disease Control reported in late
August that while 44% of teenagers received the HPV vaccine in 2009,
only 27% of them received all three doses of the shot.
Unfortunately, there isn't evidence to support
that getting only one shot effectively protects against cancer. "
2011
CDC: "As of June 22, 2011, approximately 35 million doses of Gardasil®
were distributed in the U.S. and VAERS received a total
of 18,727 reports of adverse events
As of June 22, 2011 there have been a total 68 VAERS reports
of death among those who have received Gardasil®."
"Foaming at the mouth, shock, seizures, paralysis,
coma-even death have been reported
as a result of taking the vaccine Gardasil from Merck ... "
"Gardasil Causes 400 Percent More Deaths than Other Common Vaccine
A federal report has concluded that the human papillomavirus (HPV)
vaccine Gardasil has a 400 percent higher rate of adverse effects
than another comparable vaccine, the Menactra anti-meningitis shot. "

They also have all kinds of mandates on lots of other vaccines. Why are we singling out the HPV vaccine. If it is wrong to mandate one of them, it's wrong to mandate all of them.
This is a non issue.
To: indianrightwinger
If either one has proof, it is something to discuss. If not, it is just speculation and a low blow to sucker punch Rich Perry.
Although, it is better to have this discussion now instead of leading up to the general.

Sarah just had 25,000 emails reviewed. Sarah doesn’t just put things out there. She knows something or she would not have taken up for Bachman so fervently tonight.

Perry rescinded the order and has already said the whole thing was a blunder. They’ll have to do better than that. Look, I’ve been a Palin fan for a long time but either she never intended to run or she now understands that she has played cat and mouse too long.
To: indianrightwinger
You obviously did not follow this when it first occurred as I did....because I had been warning people about this vaccine. Rick Perry made a dumb decision and when called out by parents warring against him....he backed off....this is precisely what Sarah Palin has been talking about...politicians listening to outside interests influencing their decisions which affect each of our lives. After the outrage over his mandating this be given to all girls over age 12, it came to light about his connection with Merck....go back and read this as it happened...and make your own mind up.

Perry CoS to lobbiest creates the appearance of impropriety. Not even arguable.
Doesn't matter how much money changes hands. It is that appearance that contributes to citizens mistrust of government.

SO Palin attack Perry about allege crony capitalism? SO its’ even more certain she will endorse Perry!! /s
That’s all we hear from fake-A** Freepers after Sarah repeated has mark differences between her and Perry since he announces at that Saturday and yet some trolls keep pushing that garbage....you might not like what Palin said but Im glad she said it to make the jerks around look like fools pushing the same tire old meme

How exactly does that prove that Perry did it to profit Merck? That is exactly the “claim” (innuendo) by Palin and Bachman.
To: indianrightwinger
What was wrong about it was that the drug was not tested long enough. He made it a mandate that a person had to go to the trouble to opt out of.
Of course the men were not required.
It has a very ugly appearance, no matter how you slice it, when you take any money at all from the company who made a drug you were forcing on to people.
Nobody can prove intent, but if a dem had done it, we would be screaming.

I suppose everyone has their price. But very few people at Perry’s level will sell their souls for a measly 5K contribution. Bachmann knows this.
I have no idea how her attack will play. I just know I was disappointed in her.
(BTW, I agree that the mandate was a mistake, even with the opt-out.)
