“Did you ideological purists learn nothing from the 2008 catastrophe?”

I don’t follow you. In 2008, against my better judgment, I voted for McCain, who stood for virtually nothing, but had the the Republican label. So you are saying I should not vote for Romney, who stands for virtually nothing, if he gets the Republican nomination? But I would have thought you were against learning from experience in this case??

You play “liberal-lite” and we all lose. Learn some history...

Poppy abandoned the Reagan Legacy and went liberal. He lost to Clinton who ran to the right of him in speeches. No Ross Perot was not the cause. GHW Bush lost it on his own.

Next came 1996. Bob Dole and a bunch of North Eastern Liberals ran a Big Tent Freak Show which turned the stomachs of many in the party. His race was not even close. Then came GW Bush. Here is a simple fact many ignore. Had Al Gore not been tainted with Clinton scandals Bush would not have even come close to winning. Bush was the man who in 2000 said he and Mr. Gore were not that far apart on issues. Bush thumbed his nose at conservatives especially social conservatives and instead listened to his mentor Gerald Ford who stated about conservatives " where else can they go". Bush didn't do that great in the 2004 election either.

Then comes Arch RINO McCain. Any conservative should have been able to take on Obama and debate point for point the conservative plan. McCain all but endorsed Obama toward the general election. No indeed I do not trust establishment liberal GOP. They have a long standing record of selling Conservatism out. It's a sad commentary about the GOP that even with two house majority and a GOP POTUS the GOP could not and would not get it's act together. The results we now live with. The GOP went far away from Conservatism and even Constitutional bounds from 2001-2008.

Conservatism WINS the 1994 elections showed as much. It is when the party abandons Conservatism it looses.

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner! Romney is at the bottom of my list, but when you compare him to FUBO, it’s no contest. So we Conservatives need to work diligently to make certain that we have a candidate that has MOST of our values, and can beat Obama. Another four years of his failed leadership and there won’t be an America, at least one that we will recognize. Face it, we could and should have done much better than either of the Bushes, or the “it’s my turn” candidates ( Dole and McLame). What we should be up in arms about is Jeb Bush deciding to run. He’s a Bush, and he’s married to a Hispanic. You do the math!!!

This thread says that’s not so.

The GOP can’t afford to lose this percentage of their base.

Check out the “sell by” dates on the bills and laws that Obama has pushed through. Regardless of whether or not he is reelected - unless we get someone in there who will actively work to repeal all that - this country is finished.

We’ve had candidates that said all the right things (remember “No new taxes”?) and then screwed us over. As things stand now, Jesus Christ could come down from heaven, get elected and we’d still be in trouble. We’re in for a long, hard pull before things turn around and unless our next President is willing to go on record as supporting repeal of Obamacare and the Patriot Act, the dissolution and dismantling of the rest of Obama’s wet dreams like DHS and the firing of the plethora of “czars” AND their staffs we will never make it out of the hole he’s dug for us.

We are past the point of no return in our journey and we need to wake up and stop living in the past. Obama is bad but so was Bush - and Clinton and Bush I and on and on. Reagan was better than most but he wasn’t any great shakes either. If I had to pick the best President I can remember I’d choose Truman. The rest were just opportunists who saw a way to acquire power.

When trying to decide who to support, ask yourself which one you’d trust to take your little girl to a public toilet.

I do not like Mitt Romney. In a hypothetical matchup of Romney v Obama?

I’m voting and NOT for Obama.

So, apparently voting for a socialized medicine/ gun grabber is somehow “conservative winning” now?

Put down the crack pipe...

I will not vote for Romney for any reason.

Ditto that. In fact, it's been my tagline on occasion over the past 6 years.

If Romney is the nominee, I will be looking for the strongest 3rd party candidate.

As opposed to what Obama has done to this country in less than 3 years? Are you freakin’ serious?

You have GOT to be a DU troll or something.

All that should have to be said is to take a good look at an Obama SC pick and add as many as 4 more. Case closed.

You can’t see the forest for the trees.

So, you’re on a CONSERVATIVE forum swearing up and down that 4 more years of Barack Hussein Øbama is just FINE AND DANDY and excoriating anyone who disagrees.

Which of us is on crack?

Now Bush certainly had his fair share of flaws when it came to adherence to Conservative principles. But his nominations to the Supreme Court (Roberts and Alito) weren't one of them.

Take a look at Romney's record of appointing judges in Massachusetts. To excerpt an article from the Boston Globe:

"Governor Mitt Romney, who touts his conservative credentials to out-of-state Republicans, has passed over GOP lawyers for three-quarters (75%) of the 36 judicial vacancies he has faced, instead tapping registered Democrats or independents – including two gay lawyers who have supported expanded same-sex rights."

What does that tell you?

I think half of the people on here parroting that line are DU trolls. GOT to be. No other logical explanation.

Stick around another 12 years before you start calling anyone a troll. Go vote for your gun grabber.

The rest of us will continue to push real conservatives.

We shall see about that. I'm hoping that the Tea Party will go rogue if Romney gets the nod.

Why would any conservative help a phony liberal like Mitt Romney get elected? If he's the nominee, we have a choice of two socialists running for president. The obvious route for a conservative at that point is 3rd party.

I am DONE voting for liberals just because they have an "R" after their names.

And if there is no real Conservative in the running any longer, your answer is to re-elect the most liberal/radical President we have ever seen in our lifetimes.

Sounds like you haven’t gotten any smarter during your time here.
