You obviously have let your love for Perry overshadow your understanding of the serious wetback problem we face nationwide, but particularly in Texas. States rights is a good thing; illegal immigration IS NOT! Perry stepped on his crank in the debate on this issue. He is out of touch with those of us strongly opposed to ANY form of illegal immigration. His views are bordering on Dream Act Light.

I'm quite aware of the illegal problem, I live in Arizona and have railed against it on this forum for years. I don't have a love for Perry, but I do have a love of truth and I hate liars. Those who pretend they support the Constitution and then try to say the 10th amendment doesn't matter are LIARS. Texas has a right do do what they want on their version of the Dream Act. It's their money, their right. If you don't support the Constitution then YOU belong in Mexico.

The federal Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 “prohibits states from providing a postsecondary education benefit to an alien not lawfully present in the United States on the basis of residence unless any U.S. citizen or national is eligible for the same benefit.”

11 states have done an end-run on the federal law by allowing anyone who meets a residency requirement to get in-state tuition regardless of immigration status. Thus, it would be available to any US citizen if he/she met the residency requirement. There is an ongoing court case on the Texas law and bills were introduced this session in the Texas legislature to repeal the law.

It is illegal for illegals to work in the US and it is illegal for anyone to hire them. So why are we subsidizing their higher education? And it is illegal for them to collect welfare and other benefits, i.e., the dole. Perry's position on immigration and securing the border could very well end his chances of getting the nomination.

“Those who pretend they support the Constitution and then try to say the 10th amendment doesn’t matter are LIARS.f you don’t support the Constitution then YOU belong in Mexico.”

Well let’s see now, Rick Perry was Ok with same sex marriage and Romney care before he was against them, ala 10th amendment. I find it amusing that you think it’s ok for Texas to charge more for an Arizonan to attend a Texas college or university than an illegal alien who is breaking our laws. Sort of a warped mentality making that a 10th amendment issue. You probably agree with CA and IL gun control laws too because that’s a 10th amendment issue.

Your governor has a better sense of the illegal issue than Rick does and she’s just trying to enforce federal laws already on the books, not evade them. It’s a sad state of affairs when Romney is better on the wetback issue than Perry is.
