She has gone “all-in” on Governor Perry over this. This is either her last act of desperation to be relevant and stay in the race, or it is her doing the bidding of Romney in order to be VP.

She got on my nerves tonight. She knows she can’t win yet she’s damaging the party. Just what we need, another lawyer in the White House.

Maybe you missed Gretta, but Sarah basically skewered Perry over this. She said her comments are in her 25,000 email release at the time

I disagree. She saw an incident that fit her definition of “crony capitalism”, so she illustrated it. I appreciated it, because I’d been thinking about it as being corporate donations, but she reminded us that it can also be the thing where advisors go off and get hired by companies, and then those companies have an “in” and can get their opinions listened to.

I think the answer to that is to weaken government so it can’t have so much control over the corporate world. But Sarah has also used other candidates for object lessons, so I don’t think her picking Perry this time means she is out to get him over all the others.

But it does give us something to think about. The Perry folks sent me an e-mail asking for money, and I responded with questions raising the issue of the CoS lobbying, because I think it’s an interesting one. Perry could answer it by acknowledging the appearance, and suggest how as President what actions he would take to minimize that appearance. That would make me feel better about him. It’s not like it’s make-or-break, it’s just one of those things that was interesting.

I do think it interesting that she seemed to be propping up Michelle Bachmann — not too long ago people argued Palin was upset with Bachmann.

I used to be pretty sure she was running, but I do think all of this talk on fox about specific candidates while being paid suggests she is comfortable with the situation, which I don’t think she would be if she was about to enter the race — appearance of impropriety here would be getting paid to attack your opponents right before entering the race. Before when she was aloof about specific candidates, and was just giving her opinions and talking about issues, that wouldn’t have raised the same appearance problems, so I thought that was a sign she was avoiding things because she was going to run.

But I could be wrong. I’ve been wrong before. I think Gingrich praised her because he still wants to win and thinks that building up Sarah will hurt Perry. I don’t think he’d do that if he thought Palin was entering, but I could be wrong about that as well.
