Rick Perry: Texas tough
THE HERALD EVERETT, WASHINGTON ^ | September 10, 2011 | Rick Horowitz

Posted on 09/10/2011 3:17:47 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

"Maybe it's time to have some provocative language in this country."

-- Rick Perry

"Because it worked so well the last time?"

-- Rick Horowitz

"Bring 'em on!" says the man from Texas -- or was that the previous man from Texas? Whatever.

Must be something in the water. (Industrial waste?) You come out of the Lone Star State and your default settings automatically go to Total Testosterone: You're the long-stridin', sun-squintin', gun-totin', plain-speakin', g-droppin', tough-as-nails, raw-as-a-rattlesnake son of the West with the sheriff's badge and the don't-mess-with-me jawline.

Pass the popcorn -- we think we're in love!

There's something about a swagger, right? When times are tough -- and aren't times always tough? -- we need a man who's tough. The kind of man who takes no guff from nobody. A man's man, not one of those namby-pamby types who wants to be "reasonable." Who'd rather "meet you halfway." Who prefers to "lead from behind."

Not that we're naming names. (But do we have to spell it out for you?)

We need a man who stands tall. A man who sits tall in the saddle. A man who's not afraid to speak his mind, no matter what's in it. A man who says what he thinks, even when he's not actually thinking. If he's got good hair, so much the better.

[snip]

He makes his bets, and then -- because he's a man's man, a swaggery man, a Texas man -- he doubles down on his bets. That's right: He doesn't back down, he doubles down. Try to set him back on his heels and he'll rip your legs off. Then he'll have your toes for breakfast.

Isn't that exactly the kind of man America is hungry for?

>> NO ONE did anything. So?

So, the fact that nobody did anything about it demonstrates how demoralized American culture has become.

And your non-chalant dismissal of such corruption is evidence that this process...

"What it basically means is: to change the perception of reality of every American that despite of the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families, their community, and their country.

It's a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages.

The first stage being "demoralization".... "

I am telling you, Barney got in the way. He swore that every thing was FINE. I remember seeing the youtube of him doing that when GWB came out with his concerns.

I am guessing everyone was artificially reassured by this or felt the political expediency of inaction more beneficial.

It was NOT okay. Banks were gently ‘threatened’ by the feds to give out these mortgages. It was a liberal BIGGIE.

And yes, the banks, mortgage companies just went along with it.

I believe the gov’t should be excluded from anything to do with economics and business. I am sick of the government. I live in Texas and in spite of the drought (forcing me to buy hay 6 mos early) and the fires, (one 10 min by car away), I thank God I live in Texas.

Perry is NO genius...THANK GOD for that, too.

[We don't like a person's home stolen out from under them, here in Texas.]

Uhuh.

Bank of America and Countrywide distribute foreclosure funds.

Bank of America and Countrywide are preparing to mail out $7.46 million in funds that are to be used as restitution to Texas families who the Texas Attorney General determined were tricked, lied to, or maybe strongly encouraged to take on risky home mortgages they could not afford the monthly payments on. Most of these homeowners lost their homes to foreclosure, and these funds will provide needed relief and assistance.

Countrywide, which is now part of BOA, will soon be mailing out forms and details of the funds and  how to receive a pay out....

"will soon be mailing out forms and details of the funds and how to receive a pay out...."

A pay out?

LOL.  Isn't that sort of like knitting the sheep a sweater after inviting the "We'll help you out" wolves to come eat them?

Was giving 20 million Texas Tax dollars to Angelo Mozilo and the Thieves at Countrywide Financial an ERROR; and is that an example of the judgment we can expect from President Perry?

Yes, No, taking the 5th?

>>I am telling you, Barney got in the way.

Did Barney get in the way when the Godfather of Subprime was appointed Ambassador to the Netherlands?

Evidently not.

SO. Man up, take RESPONSIBILITY, stop making excuses - and drive on.

>>I believe the gov’t should be excluded from anything to do with economics and business.

Then you agree that it was an unconservative ERROR for Rick Perry to give 20 million Texas Tax $ to Angelo Mozilo and Countrywide?

Good!

Hey, brainiac, that money was given in 2004, long before anyone know what Countrywide was up to, and resulted in 1600 new jobs for Texas residents. Nice try, but a swing and a miss...

[long before anyone know [sic] what Countrywide was up to, and resulted in 1600 new jobs for Texas residents.]

And when did those alleged 1600 Texas residents realize they were working for predators who were about to eat their neighbors?

The Soviet Union created lots of state "Enterprise" McJobs too.  Full employment they claimed.  How did that work out again?

Jim Johnson of Fannie Mae and Countrywide Financial's Angelo Mozilo are two of the biggest contributors to the housing finance collapse. If there is a Gov. Perry connection to those two, we do need to know about it. The housing and banking collapse with the bailouts following are a prime example of crony capitalism run amok. Bribes, threats, political payoffs and the strong use of "racism" charges were all a part of the MO. I'm not saying Perry is complicit in the con and really doubt that he is because many people were duped in the build up to the collapse.

btw have either of you read Reckless Endangerment?

Perry needs to put some daylight between himself and BoA/Countrywide's "We'll help you out"...

Countrywide Financial was the king of low-doc/no-doc home loans and the darling of Wall Street. They snowed everybody - including Rick Perry. At least he didn’t give them $4 billion like the wizards at BofA.....

You are seriously going to compare Texas with the Soviet Union? You've decided to give up ALL credibility, haven't you?

That’s evidently how a Godfather of Subprime buys an ambassadorship from the GeeOpie party RINOs.

We don’t need or want any repeats after Obumble gets his Caesar salad tossed, do we?

How did the Soviet Union manufacture “full employment”?

One of the things I always appreciated and liked about W was his commitment to his own personal fitness.

What’s Perry running his splits in these days?

What’s that have to do with the 1/2 marathon winner and also rans.

>>the 1/2 marathon winner and also rans.

It takes character, discipline and perserverence to prepare for and finish an event like that.

More than 20000 people finish the Boston Marathon - but only 2 win their overall gender class, and a few win their age groups.

Does that make the other 19,000+ finishes “loosers” in your view?

What’s Perry running his mile splits in these days?
