"Maybe it's time to have some provocative language in this country."
-- Rick Perry
"Because it worked so well the last time?"

"Bring 'em on!" says the man from Texas -- or was that the previous man from Texas? Whatever.
Must be something in the water. (Industrial waste?) You come out of the Lone Star State and your default settings automatically go to Total Testosterone: You're the long-stridin', sun-squintin', gun-totin', plain-speakin', g-droppin', tough-as-nails, raw-as-a-rattlesnake son of the West with the sheriff's badge and the don't-mess-with-me jawline.
Pass the popcorn -- we think we're in love!
There's something about a swagger, right? When times are tough -- and aren't times always tough? -- we need a man who's tough. The kind of man who takes no guff from nobody. A man's man, not one of those namby-pamby types who wants to be "reasonable." Who'd rather "meet you halfway." Who prefers to "lead from behind."
Not that we're naming names. (But do we have to spell it out for you?)
We need a man who stands tall. A man who sits tall in the saddle. A man who's not afraid to speak his mind, no matter what's in it. A man who says what he thinks, even when he's not actually thinking. If he's got good hair, so much the better.
[snip]
He makes his bets, and then -- because he's a man's man, a swaggery man, a Texas man -- he doubles down on his bets. That's right: He doesn't back down, he doubles down. Try to set him back on his heels and he'll rip your legs off. Then he'll have your toes for breakfast.
Isn't that exactly the kind of man America is hungry for?

Perry Campaign: Remember When Romney Compared Social Security to a Criminal Enterprise? [quote from Romney's book] " What would happen to the bankers responsible for misusing the money? They would go to jail. But what has happened to the people responsible for the looming bankruptcy of Social Security? They keep returning to Congress every two years. [end quote]
There is another kind of Republican who sees the election of 2012 as a tipping point for the nation a do-or-die moment when we will either pull back from the precipice of debt and national decline or fall off the edge. This second brand of Republican is hoping that a candidate will emerge who can lay before the American people the nature of the challenge we face in a direct and forthright way. If a campaign is run and won on the need to reform our obese government, the new president will have a mandate to take the necessary steps once in office.
After Wednesdays Republican debate, it seems that Mitt Romney represents the first group, and Rick Perry stands for the second.
Rick Perrys Air War (with the EPA)...........>>>Texas alone opted for the unfriendly approach. Its the only state that did not issue a plan for complianceand Perry has made it clear that Texas has no intention of complying. The move was a blatant slap to the Obama administrationand once again gave Perry the national spotlight. Defying the climate rules offered him the perfect opportunity to loudly decry the science of global warmingwhich in his book Fed Up! he calls a contrived phony mess that is falling apart under its own weightand to slam EPA as a rogue agency with an activist mind-set that has targeted Texas. Such rhetoric is viral catnip to the tea party voters who could help catapult Perry to the 2012 presidential nomination.<<<..............

In Texas Schools, Perry Shuns Federal Influence >>>When Secretary of Education Arne Duncan jabbed Mr. Perry on public schools in mid-August, it was only the latest skirmish between the governor and the Obama administration since late 2009, when Mr. Perry announced that the state would not sign on to common core-curriculum standards.<<<...
The Left is signaling that they hope a President Perry will fix education and get the inner cities out from under the impossible mess they've created.
Will Rick Perry Unravel the Strange Consensus on Public Education?
Trial lawyers prep for war on Perry Americas trial lawyers are getting ready to make the case against one of their biggest targets in years: Texas Gov. Rick Perry.
Among litigators, there is no presidential candidate who inspires the same level of hatred and fear as Perry, an avowed opponent of the plaintiffs bar who has presided over several rounds of tort reform as governor.
And if Perry ends up as the Republican nominee for president, deep-pocketed trial lawyers intend to play a central role in the campaign to defeat him.
Thats a potential financial boon to a president who has unsettled trial lawyers with his own rhetorical gestures in the direction of tort reform. A general election pitting Barack Obama and Perry could turn otherwise apathetic trial lawyers into a phalanx of pro-Obama bundlers and super PAC donors.

You’re aware that this commentary is satire aren’t you?
IMHO, this is one of those times.
The Left is scared of Gov. Perry and needs to paint a caricature of him, Texans — all conservatives.
This writer smells of fear.
The coffers at the DNC must be filling at a snail’s pace.
Perry is going to pull voters like nobody’s business from every corner of the American electorate.
They see Rick Perry as a strong American and Barack Obama as a strong anti-American.
Yes.
Wish I had time to look for J.Frank Dobie— The Longhorns—Rick Perry reminds me-as does this post— “Other States were made or born-Texas was made of hide and horn....” a bit of verse published there that caught my fancy when I was growing up and not yet weaned from watching John Wayne Movies all the time.
You reminded me of this Aggie picture of Perry.
Perry is the polar opposite of Obama (who is an affirmative action castrato and gurrly mahn).
Perry will obliterate Obama in 2012!

Well, as a fellow Eagle Scout, I was considering Perry. But I’m not anymore. He’s very disappointing.
How did you like the results of that Iowa Half-Marathon? I thought they were impressive.
"Look, there goes the bastard RINO who pushed RomneyCARE."
I don’t understand how you have the patience for the unbelievably stupid questions you are asked here.
You have an incredible amount of patience.
Now answer the question:
