Almost all of them jumped alone, although eyewitnesses talked of a couple who held hands as they fell. One woman, in a final act of modesty, appeared to be holding down her skirt. Others tried to make parachutes out of curtains or tablecloths, only to have them wrenched from their grip by the force of their descent. The fall was said to take about ten seconds. It would vary according to the body position and how long it took to reach terminal velocity around 125mph in most cases, but if someone fell head down with their body straight, as

Thank God your daughter had someone who was thinking straight convince her to do the right thing and save her own life. In retrospect, it is still chilling to hear dispatchers tell people to stay in place because help is coming.

I believe the message of Jesus was not “do not commit acts of violence” but “do not commit unprovoked and unjustified acts of violence.” The former doesn’t actually make any sense, especially if we note that Jesus himself wasn’t exactly a pacifist. Er, moneylencers/moneychangers. Not sure why I made that mistake. :P
I agree.
I feel as you do. Till the day I die, I will be haunted by those images and staggered by the sheer horror and panic of what those poor souls went through. I used to commute through The Trade Center on the Path trains when I worked in NYC. I was a construction worker and I worked at Battery Park City in the ‘80’s. The highest up I ever was was 80 stories(about 800 feet) and still those two massive towers loomed over me.
All due respect but I find this account hard to believe. Falling at over 120 miles an hour from 1,500 feet to a concrete pavement and all that is left of a human body is a large red spot(may God have mercy on their souls). I worked across the Trade Center for years. Trust me , had you ever seen those towers you’d know such a thing as described would have been impossible.
I retract my original post to you. I saw the story you mentioned. Good God, how horrifyingly amazing. And Sad.
