At all NFL games ALL fans are required for pat downs. In the Winter you have to unzip your coat, sucks if you where 10 layers of clothes when it's -5 degrees out.
One time they patted me down and touched my pocket and made me take my ipod out because they thought it was C4 or something. So what I do now is take a little felt bag that I got as a giveaway at a White Sox game and put my phone, camera, iPod in there so they can check that and not make me remove every thing from my pockets.

I remember being in O’Hare after 9/11. I ended up there all night because of flight mix-ups. I specifically remember watching multiple Nat Guard patrols carrying their weapons. I was calmer because of them, too.
