The clock is ticking for Sarah Palin, and her time is almost up.
With Mitt Romney and Rick Perry taking control of a quickly shifting Republican presidential campaign, Palin may have already missed her best chance for a late entry in the race.
"I think the window for Palin is closed, and every second that ticks off the clock things get more and more difficult for her," said Craig Robinson, a former state party political director who runs the Iowa Republican website.
"People are really ready to say this is our field of candidates, these are the people we have to choose from," he said. "They are growing frustrated with Sarah Palin's game of peekaboo."
On another visit to Iowa last weekend, she told reporters she was happy with the field of Republican candidates and quickly added: "I always think there is room for more."
But with the first nominating contest in Iowa less than five months away, little time is left to organize a national campaign, hire a staff and raise the money to compete.
The once unsettled battle for the Republican nomination to challenge President Barack Obama in 2012 has taken shape with last month's entry of Perry, the Texas governor who has roared to the top of the polls with strong conservative support.
Perry zoomed past Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, by appealing to the same coalition of social, religious and Tea Party fiscal conservatives that Palin would target if she gets in the race.
"Now that Perry and Romney have begun to draw the battle lines between them, I don't think there is any room for Palin in the campaign," said Republican strategist Rich Galen. "She's still a big personality, but she's not a potential candidate."

The electorate will not get engaged until about two months out. Her Facebook page sure doesn’t reflect a bleeding of sorts. It has increased about 20000 in the past month or so. Oh, and she will not need the big donors. She is going truly grass roots, one household/block at a time. She has her lieutenants in place, and they are all waiting with enthusiasm for her word, which is no more than 3 weeks away!
We all know how worried and stressed the News Corpse is about all this awful, awful development.
What an asinine statement. Corrupt money? From whom would this "corrupt" money coming from? Are you an anti-business liberal who believes that Corporations and businesses should not be allowed to make political contributions? Do you believe in the first amendment?
If she does run would you vote for her?
If she wins the nomination I will work for her campaign and donate money. But she is not going to win the nomination because she is not going to run. And at this point I am committed to Perry. I was a solid Palin supporter until about 2 weeks ago. I had declared that if she didn't make an announcement by her 9/3 speech, I was going all in for Perry.
Well, I'm all in now.
She has to file by October 15th, I believe, for any of the early caucuses and primaries
Each state has differnt guidelines and requirements regarding filing for the primary. Some require petition signatures, some don’t, some it is just paperwork, others include filing fees, etc. It’s hard to get specifics without going to each state’s election laws and searching through them.
Three drop dead filing dates I’ve found are as follows:
Oct. 31, Florida
Nov. 1, South Carolina
Nov. 21, New Hampshire
So there is still time for meeting state requirement for filing, etc. but it is drawing close.
“Rick Perry is so far removed from the likes of McCain that it is not even worth the debate.”
Yeah. A whole state an a half separates them. Good thing Texas is so big or they would be much closer.
(Sorry ‘bout that. sometimes I just like to visualize things as they are literally stated and could not pass that one up.)
Carry on.
Name of publication, please? Washington does not cut it.
Oh, well her facebook page subscribers are all 100% behind her, huh? "You don't think she has thousands upon thousands of facebook "friends" who are liberals wanting to find out what she is up to.
I know people who have no real friends who have thousands of facebook friends. Facebook is not a determiner of voting trends or political momentum. I am not now, nor will I ever be a facebook subscriber. Anyone who has a facebook account has surrendered their privacy to a company that is dedicated to destroying privacy. You have to sign your life away to subscribe.

Welcome to Free Republic.
Now go back and play facebook friends.
Oh, she`s probably already decided... she didn`t say when the rest of us would find out.
Sorry for unfortunate and premature decision. Good God, the election is still 15 months away and the Iowa primary is 5 months away! She is a very keen warrior. She learning from her opponents and exactly how the elite and media choose to pick them apart. She is not just a gorgeous bod and pretty face. She is one smart woman, with guts and patience.
Hope you change your mind after the real debates begin!
LOL. You don't believe it?
If I show you the dozens of publications from that date (July 13, 2011) which all quoted Sarah Palin as saying that she would announce her intentions in Late August or Early September, would you change your mind about anything?
Do you really care whether or not she said it?
I will stake my reputation as an 11 year Freeper that the quote is accurate?
Are you willing to stake your reputation as a 4 day Freeper to challenge my integrity?
She said late August or early September.
Where is the announcement?
I heard something today that made me think her window may, in fact, be closing. Rush Limbaugh has always been a solid and consistent, if subtle, supporter of Sarah Palin. When he was talking today about last night’s debate, he made several comments about how much he admires Michele Bachmann. Then he went on to attribute her declining poll numbers to Sarah Palin’s indecision about entering the race. As a long time, read between the lines, Limbaugh listener, he left me with the impression that he’s done waiting. To quote our idiot VP, this is a big effing deal. If Sarah’s lost Limbaugh’s support, she’s lost a lot more than some people may be comfortable acknowledging.
Lastly, I do not routinely use Facebook, however, one must show some interest to go visit a page. If that page has many enthusiastic followers, then they will do the campaigning for her. They will do the persuasion. That is what campaigning is all about. A battle of ideas combined with a type o flair.
It seems to me that no matter who visits her page. It is a win win for her! The more, the better. This is what grass roots is all about!
It appears to me that again your childish impatience has clouded your mind.
You were once a solid supporter but because your self imposed time line doesn’t jive with hers, you jump ship?
I guess my patience is asinine too...
She obviously doesn’t want to take money she will have to pay back with special favors like the rest of the corrupt POS in government.
What a great idea, be honest and fulfill the promises you made to the voters who elected her.
wonderful. now for the next $998 million. since they say O will raise $1 bill
She PROMISED to make an announcement in late August or early September.
Somebody on here said: “Ahhh Sara, you make us sons of bitches proud”
LOVE IT!
To paraphrase Willy Brown: "if you can't take money from a donor and then screw them, you got no business being in the business."
If General Electric donates to her PAC, does this mean she is obligated to grant them special favors?
If Sarah Palin can't take money from corporate donors and businesses and then screw them, she has no business being in politics.
Was she elected?
