Palin's window closing as Republican race gains steam
Rooooooters ^ | September 8, 2011 | Jim Young

The clock is ticking for Sarah Palin, and her time is almost up.

With Mitt Romney and Rick Perry taking control of a quickly shifting Republican presidential campaign, Palin may have already missed her best chance for a late entry in the race.

"I think the window for Palin is closed, and every second that ticks off the clock things get more and more difficult for her," said Craig Robinson, a former state party political director who runs the Iowa Republican website.

"People are really ready to say this is our field of candidates, these are the people we have to choose from," he said. "They are growing frustrated with Sarah Palin's game of peekaboo."

On another visit to Iowa last weekend, she told reporters she was happy with the field of Republican candidates and quickly added: "I always think there is room for more."

But with the first nominating contest in Iowa less than five months away, little time is left to organize a national campaign, hire a staff and raise the money to compete.

The once unsettled battle for the Republican nomination to challenge President Barack Obama in 2012 has taken shape with last month's entry of Perry, the Texas governor who has roared to the top of the polls with strong conservative support.

Perry zoomed past Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, by appealing to the same coalition of social, religious and Tea Party fiscal conservatives that Palin would target if she gets in the race.

"Now that Perry and Romney have begun to draw the battle lines between them, I don't think there is any room for Palin in the campaign," said Republican strategist Rich Galen. "She's still a big personality, but she's not a potential candidate."

Thank you, I’ve been looking for that link all night. The quote in the AP story does not appear to be a direct quote but is a paraphrase of her intentions.

That being said, the story made the rounds around the world exactly as I posted it and I can find no follow up denials or corrections from the Palin camp or Palin herself. If she did not intend to convey the impression that she was intending to make an announcement in late August or early September, she had an obligation to correct the story. It’s not like she didn’t have access to the press or the internet.

So it is past August and closing in on the end of September. She is looking very indecisive. The least she could do is say whether or not she intends to run. She does not need to make an official announcement until she is ready to enter the fray.

But nothing is stopping her from saying something like “It is my intention to run and I will be making a formal announcement at a later time.”

She’s playing this game with the media and teasing everyone. That hand has been played too long. It is past time for her to show her cards.

Frankly, I do not believe she intends to run. Maybe she will prove me wrong. I’ve been wrong before.

I seem to remember witnessing that which is why I’m so surprised she allegedly “hasn’t made a decision” yet. I thought leaders were supposed to be decisive.

There was a lot of hype and buzz going into her September 3 speech. When she first announced her intention to speak, there was a lot of anticipation that she would make some kind of announcement.

It was at that time that I made a public statement that if she did not announce her intention to run by the time that speech was over, I was going all in for Perry. That time came and went. I will vote for Perry in the primary even if Palin is on the ballot. Palin's delay at this time is looking like an inability to make a decision. Kinda like voting present.

Ask: WHAT HAS CHANGED SINCE THE 2008 BAILOUT? :

NOTHING significant EXCEPT the upcoming SHACKLES of Vampire-Care.

All of this is all flack, they’re making time with these “mini-bailouts”, until the full blown Vampire-Care BAILOUT allows government to control and leech off of EVERY aspect of each individual.

The bottom line is, the deadline to file is ahead. If you want to quibble over dates, you might be viciously grasping your little calendar as the parade marches you by, muttering “but the paper said”...

If you want to believe the Lib blather and spread divisive rhetoric, you will still be one of the Americans who benefits from Gov Palins 5-Point Plan for America. America is a great country isn’t she?

I would like to discuss more substantive issues myself.

Palin is the top contender. She's the main attraction. Why should she stand in line, on a stage, waiting to speak, and be insulted like the others by liberal gotcha reporters?

In the meanwhile, she's given tremendous, specific policy speeches. Unfortunately, distracted Coulter, Cheney, Gigot don't comment on her brilliance. Like Rush says, some people have changed by being in Washington too long.

When the field gets whittled down to 2 or 3, she will find them wanting and declare. And Win!!!

When I have a kid, I want to buy one of those strollers for twins. Then put the kid in and run around, looking frantic.... When he gets older, I’d tell him he used to have a brother, but he didn’t obey.

I had a friend who was a clown. When he died, all his friends went to the funeral in one car.

I once put instant coffee in a microwave and went back in time.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà-vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

Thank you, for your time.

My wife has some experience in broadcasting. So do a few of my clients. I know what you say is true, which is why I have no need to argue back and forth.

The proof is in a video/audio blurb when she was in Iowa before the Mr. Hannity interview. She said late September, because she did not want to string along her supporters and volunteers. It would not be fair, she said. I am paraphrasing, but I know what I listened to. The tape is floating out there, somewhere.

Frankly, the truly educated electorate knows where she stands on issues. It is the voter that just votes is where she needs to connect. That will not happened until right before election month or week. So, the later she announces, the better, more fresh and dynamic her words will come across. A better shot to captivate them. She is doing right and I impressed with her patience.

Bottom line, she will be the best prepared when she enters the debates. She will only 2 or 3 to set her apart from the field. Sarah’s work ethic is unparalleled and is well grounded. She is the most vetted and has learned quite a bit from it. She is a unique politician, brought to America, for this time. Much like Ronald Reagan.

P-Marlowe has been “concern trolling” this without legitimate purpose. He cannot influence her actions from his keyboard.

At no time did the words that P-Marlowe was posting come out of Palin’s mouth. The Mediots were doing their best to generate pressure on Palin for the obvious reason that she is the only candidate that can possibly tackle the problems that we face WITH INTENTION TO SOLVE THEM and they do not want them solved, so they twist her words.

For some reason P-Marlowe seems to share the mediots agenda and parrots their talking points constantly. Why he would want to undermine support for the only legitimate candidate is baffling to me, but it is clear that that is his goal at this point.

I am out of patience with this attack, because I see it as an extension of Obama & Co’s attack on this last free nation on Earth. At this point I find your involvement in this puzzling.

I have full confidence that Sarah Palin will conduct her campaign in the most propitious fashion, as she has from the beginning. I know that she will make the official declaration at the most effective moment.

Even if someone disagrees, what is the purpose of machine-gunning the mediot talking points?

>> “ You mean there is no more Texas either?” <<

Do you see Texas somehow surviving separately?

The harm he has done to Texas is only a microcosm of the harm his incompetent, disaffected administration would do to the nation. The status quo that he loves is not acceptable; all of the last hundred years of federal degradation has to be erased. I don’t see him undoing anything he loves so much.
