SIMI VALLEY, Calif. — The scrap between Rick Perry and Mitt Romney may have gotten more attention in Wednesday’s presidential candidates debate, but it was tame compared to the dust-up between Mr. Perry and Rep. Ron Paul, two Texans who apparently have spent plenty of time digging up dirt on each other and aren’t afraid to use it.
At one point when the video cameras weren’t rolling — though the incident was caught by still photographers — Mr. Perry walked over Mr. Paul’s lectern, took hold of the congressman’s wrist and wagged his finger at him.
The physical exchange was matched by the intensity of the two men’s verbal attacks on each other.

I watched Jesse Watters interview of Ron Paul. I knew Paul was a bit “tetched”, but he wants to “talk” to Iran about their nukes? “Treat them the way we want to be treated”? Currency is “unConstitutional”? Just how crazy IS Paul, anyway? I absolutely do not like Ron Paul. I can’t abide his “I’m right and you’re stupid” attitude- we get quite enough of that from folks like Maxine Waters. He might be right, sometimes, about the economy, but he is as wrong as a leftist about every other thing. I think he is a little mad (as in Hatter), as well.
I’ve known people who do that, and it’s clearly a weak strategy when attempting to dominate conversations, silence an opponent and or intimidate.
I personally do not tolerate others putting their hands on me.
This was very revealing.
In fact, I had a AH boss that did that to me, years ago, in a clear attempt to intimidate, and I told him don’t do it again, and told him I was not intimidated... I was fired 3 days later.
He did that on purpose, and got the reaction he was expecting from you. It's business, and the guy that gets all huffy about being "intimidated" when the other side plays their games loses.
I don't give a damn what the excuse, business or not.
BTW, the businesses went bankrupt and closed down 3 months later, and were sued by other employees. for payroll issues.
One other thing, this happened years ago.
Most employers nowadays are not quite as stupid as to put their hands on their employees, when attempting to intimidate or for whatever the reason.
He's lucky that Perry didn't punch him in the nose.
Me, too. I'd read some about him, but had never seen him talk or debate before. Overall, I'd have said that he's in the bland Romney, "write anything you want on to him" category. Don't hate him or love him, because there isn't much there to feel one way or the other about -- before this. Now, he just looks rude and weak to me.

I get what you’re saying. I probably wouldn’t put up with it, either.
However, my point is that I damn well want someone up there that will intimidate, bully or grab by the throat if necessary, to get folks’ attention and get this thing back on track.
I am sick and tired of “us” being the nice guys; the ones who always get along; the ones who put up with the PC crap, the ones who are “reaching across the aisle” only to draw back a stub.
I’m looking for someone that will be a mensch, a man, a leader...and if necessary, a bully...to get something different going.
Let me stress that I don’t think that’s the way it should be done in the workplace (generally). But we need something different, in a quantum leap way, from the way we’ve done things up to now.
If being tough, intimidating or even “bullying” will get it done, I’m for it.

Oh, you mean the one where he said it was a "commendable" and "worthy" effort? He said that before he knew what was in it? How Pelosi of him. He should have know anything a democrat was going to promote would be just more big government.
I personally think it was a friendly discussion about the ad in the Austin newspaper. The hand on the wrist could also be interpreted as a friendly gesture that would precede a firm request to “knock it off”.
Paul does not look intimidated and I think that is the story behind the picture.
Reforming healthcare IS a worthy effort.
Socializing it is not.
A real leader and someone that knows how to speak and get their message across does not need to resort to intimidation by pointing their finger into someones chest or holding their arm or wrist.

I noticed Perry's forced smile during much of the debate. I suggest he raise his voice, wipe the pasted on smile off his face, and talk like he means it. He did that regarding the capital punishment bit, but then went back to the Pollyanna pose during much of the debate.

Then why would he have "no idea" that it would become what it was knowing that democrats always want bigger government? There was nothing in that letter cautioning her against (or even asking) about socializing healthcare or giving more government control over it.
Perry shot back, smiling, that he was hoping he would get a chance to answer that because he had no idea that Hillarycare would become such a "monstrosity."

That would have given Perry a perfect chance to compare himself to Reagan - born into a Democratic family and became a successful Republican conservative governor of on of the largest states in the Union, etc... Doing what you suggest would have actually helped Perry.

Rick Perry is quite comfortable getting physical with the senile and decrepit while shepherded by his bodyguards. His supporters are, too.
