Rick Perry fails to impress in GOP debate

Texas Gov. Rick Perry needed to show in tonight’s debate that he is presidential, substantive and ready for prime time. While he made no major gaffes, he certainly did not stand out in the crowd. He took hits on his views on Social Security and on mandatory HPV testing, and unsurprisingly did not have convincing comebacks. At times — on foreign policy and on global warming — he seemed to search for words. He will need to lose the frozen grin as well. His best moment came near the end of the debate when he gave a measured, tough-minded defense of Texas’s high rate of executions, explaining the circumstances under which you will pay “the ultimate penalty” in Texas.

Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Michele Bachmann turned in solid performances. Nevertheless, it was largely a Romney vs. Perry affair.

You too must be ok with Obama style governing. You know, cram the mandate down our throat and then decide who gets the waiver type stuff. You too, just like Obama voters, will be on her two years or less into a Perry presidency crying that you didnt know he was going to govern like that. The, “hes not Jesus” statement is an excuse to accept a politics as usual candidate. No Thank You!!

Ideally? Ronald Reagan. LOL.

Failing Ronald, I’d take Sarah. Sarah is increasingly looking like a no-show.

I would have been a Bachmann groupie until her final (in my eyes) blunder.

Ron Paul? HELL no. Nutcase.

I guess that leaves Perry. Slightly RINOshine, but A) Rove and the Bushes hate him, so that’s a positive, and B) He’d be a zillion times better than Obama.

He’d NEED to start clearing out all the radicals and communists that Obama appointed.

That assumes Obama even will permit an election. If he doesn’t, I have a valid passport and I might need to crash on your couch for a week. LOL

Get a life, you freaky idiot.

Dear Sara,

I'm a freaky idiot, and on behalf of all freaky idiots everywhere, I wish to express deep objections to being compared to 'allsouthern'.

Please retract immediately.
Yours,

Laz

Whatsa matter, Al? Can’t win your argument on the merits so you have to resort to the same old lies? It’s not sticking. Try again.

lol. Right. You know, Ricardo Perry couldnt even defend his own record last night. All the stuttering and stammering was pathetic. I know, maybe he should hire you to teach him how to spin it.

Yeah, he did stammer, and more than I liked. But I thought he did great. It was his to lose, and he didn’t. Still leading, thank God.

Well, in fairness to me, I said the freaky f-word instead of the other one in respect for Free Republic. I meant the other one. So I hope all the true blue freaks don’t take offense. :)

I agree except that Romney does have ideas like what he is doing in addressing our State U’s being taken over by socialist diversity kooks. Have you heard about that?

DRey, the point is it dosent matter what HIS reason was for pushing the mandate was, Obama had plenty of reasons why he wanted his mandate, but it sure didnt make it taste any better going down did it? and it didnt make it right. For a true consevative, it would have been a no-brainer. Oh, about his lead? Give it time. lol. Have a good evening.

The point is, had obama pushed an executive order with an opt-out provision, like Perry did, I would be able to opt out and wouldn’t care.

He is giving waivers left and right. See, not much difference between his mandate and Perrys now is it?

It’s a lot different than Perry’s. I haven’t received a waiver. Have you? And I am 100% certain that if either of us told our doctors we were “opting out,” we would be laughed out of the clinic. There is no comparison, no matter how you spin it.
