Brian Williams: Governor Perry a question about Texas. Your state has executed 234 death row inmates more than any other governor in modern times. Have you struggled to sleep at night?
Governor Rick Perry: No sir. Ive never struggled with that at all
If you kill one of our children or police officers or another citizen in a crime you will face the ultimate justice in Texas

“While I support the death penalty on a philosophical basis, there are cases where DAs are more interesting in getting any conviction than in making sure they convict the right guy. You’d be surprised at the number of times where prosecutors will maintain a wrongly convicted person was guilty in the face of incontrovertible evidence of innocence.”
I am with you, particularly when it comes to Texas prosecutors. Just look at what that pile of crap Ronnie Earle did to Tom DeLay. The appeals process should make certain that we do execute a guilty person, and I believe it does. Here in California our death row inmates die of natural causes and we have something on the order of 735 there as this is being written. If Texas is over zealous in executions, California is the counterbalance. We don’t execute anyone.
I agree with you. I was noticing his posture. Not typical for him. Stiff. And right again: he will become the GOP nominee!
thanks. Did not know that about his back surgery. I thought he might have been tired from the wildfires. Of course, it’s not easy being outnumbered 7-1 and having the refs rig the game.
Williams is a smug, smarmy putz.
YES, he is still having back problems. In the townhall meeting he had in SC...he set the whole time and the way he kept adjusting one of his legs told me he was in pain.
He was standing for a longtime. The stress of answers questions quickly makes it worse.
Someone tweeted:”I fall asleep counting the jobs created in Texas everyday.”
And maybe tell my inexperienced self how to keep my stuff in paragraph order........
And the crowd went wild...
With DNA analysis it is highly unlikely that a innocent person will be executed. Most of the time, the killers admit what they did or there is no doubt.
Anti death penalty advocates are living in a fantasy world. The death penalty helps solve crimes because it is used as a bargaining chip. "Confess or give us evidence about your accomplice, or we will push for the death penalty."
This helps the families of victims find some peace. Less than one percent of killers are executed. Those that are deserve it.
What can you expect from a White House Intern in the Carter Administration. He’s a Class “A” Punk !
That’s a good one! :)
That is Perry’s style. Speaks halting. Not a problem.
Post it...drive the nutters here at FR...even more nuts.
The question was designed to get a stony face from Perry. That’s what the NBC reporter wanted.
I watched the whole stupid debate...I saw that Rick Perry won...but typically...the Perry Haters here...have been acting like the loony left...stating he failed he lost...I could see with my own eyes Perry won it.
Will do, I’ll ping ya! :)
