Its been three years since former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made her splash onto the national stage as Sen. John McCains running mate in the 2008 presidential election. And since then she has acquired a very loyal following. But is that helping or hurting her?
On Tuesdays The OReilly Factor, conservative columnist and author of Demonic: How the Liberal Mob Is Endangering America, Ann Coulter expressed her concern over the Palin phenomenon. She was asked by substitute host Laura Ingraham if Palin can maintain her status as a tea party favorite by stringing people along about her potential 2012 candidacy.
Maybe not, Coulter said. Newt Gingrich carried it on for 15 years and I kind of think that might be what were getting here, largely because of the polls. I mean, you just showed the Fox News poll, Gallup took a poll, I dont know five, six months ago, showing that not quite as high as 74 percent, but 65 percent said they would never definitely, positively, ever vote for Sarah Palin I might add, that oh, its the medias fault and they attacked her and saw her as a threat, all of which I believe is true.
Coulter pointed out that conservatives are reluctant to criticize Palin for fear of a backlash and spoke about her own experiences.
Most Americans dont want Sarah Palin for president, Coulter continued. But shes become sort of the Obama of the tea party. Shes just the one to a certain segment of right-wingers and the tiniest criticism of her, I think many of your viewers may not know this no conservative on TV will criticize Palin because they dont want to deal with the hate mail. You say her voice is a few octaves too high or perhaps Michele Bachmans speaking voice is more modulated and you will be inundated with enraged emails.
But Coulter said that the loyal following Palin has could be a liability in the long run.
No, I agree and I think shes terrific at what she does, but I tend to agree with you, Coulter said. I got sick of it with Newt Gingrich too, fish or cut bait because you are ginning up this group of Americans who will not even consider anyone else. You know, we used to all love Sarah Palin conservatives like me for her enemies. Im starting to dislike her because of her fans
I think shes bright, but her good points do not seem to be in the direction of running for president. I sort of wish just like Newt Gingrich, just run so we can get this over with.
Who is Ann Coulter?
They know Sarah's too strong for them, so they're going after her supporters, hoping for a softer target.
Like Sarah, we need to be a target out of range.
Yes, yes. Now considering Palin *ISN'T* a candidate... it's a bit creepy.
From the article I read, it'd doesn't look like she's slamming Palin at all. She's slamming her fans.
You don’t have to agree with her about everything. Freepers should just act like human beings. They are dragging this site down into the trash with their remarks about Ann.
LOL!!!
Vet,
I was going to respond to him, but I am too busy laughing at his rant.
Intriguing observation, and worth repeating.
It is also worth mentioning that the whole "Palin cult" meme is an Alinksky-like marginalization tactic, designed to limit the acqisition of new supporters through negative emotional association with cults. It's a variation on a propaganda technique called bracketing, and should be challenged at a rational, factual level whenever encountered, IMHO.
Oh. Well, then why are we going through this whole primary and general election thing?
Just tell us O, Great And Wonderful Coulter, who most Americans DO want for President and we can do away with all this rigamarole.
As if the fans of the other candidates bring you tea and crumpets if you criticize his or her candidate.
Do we need any more proof Ann has gone completely off the rails? She still can’t get over that Christie isn’t running. And for her to compare her supporters to Obama’s? Ann, shove it.
You know, that does cover some of the anti-Palin folks. How about the other ones? Certainly thinking conservatives cannot have a problem with 90% of her strong conservative positions. Her written and spoken words show a true conservative...so why all the disdain?
I believe most other conservatives not covered by your post strongly dislike her because: (1) jealousy...She is a strong woman who appears to have it all (looks, strong character, fine family, money, physical strength) (2) Some just don't like woman who are leaders and (3), she is an outspoken Evangelical Christian.
I have three or four of Ann Coulter's books. She was excited about Mitt Romney.
She is pooh-poohing Sarah Palin.
Did she not date Bill Maher?
Rush said last week the very thin of Hollywood are made stupid by dieting, that the body will consume the brain cells to feed itself.
Who could be excited for Mitt Romney, yet perennially negative about Sarah Palin?
I like Ann when she is saying catty things about liberals, not conservatives.
I have heard that her boyfriend is a rock musician who is a registered DemocRAT.
Maybe she's getting tired of being odd groupie out.
Saying she’s ‘sort of like the Obama of the tea Party’... screw you, Ann. I’ve said it for the past 3 years, but anyone who actually believes Coulter is a conservative is not playing with a full deck. She is nothing more than a tried and true entrenched elitist RINO.
When she first came on the scene I used to like her but after awhile, she became a broken record.
I equate her to a rich debutante whose only claim to fame is making her rounds of all the high society cocktail parties and fundraisers just to get her picture on the gossip page.

Needs a BARF ALERT.
Ann can move in with M. Dowd.
