Sarah Palin stirs the pot but doesnt announce By Jennifer Rubin Sarah Palin didnt announce her candidacy for president Saturday at a Tea Party gathering in Iowa. But she did complicate matters for front-runner Texas Gov. Rick Perry, suggesting an actual strategy may be at work: If Perry stumbles, she might get into the race. But dont bet on it.
Mitt Romney and Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) might want to sent Palin some flowers. She did an enormous favor for them in making the argument against crony capitalism, one of the most potent arguments against Perry. As this report observed:
Were celebrating red, white and blue America! she began her speech, amid the sounds of cheering and what sounded suspiciously like a vuvuzela. After painting a dire picture of the American economy as it stands today, she railed against President Obama: Is this what you call winning the future? I call it

Excellent questions. Don’t expect to get black/white answers from any politician. :) Only generalities and vague positions/concepts. Perry included. Palin inclued for that matter from her own speach the other day.
Keeps OUT of the mess?! You and many other PerryBots are in almost EVERY Palin thread trashing her to Mars and back!
At least I have the decency to read the other candidate threads and NOT throw garbage in there to pi$$ the Perrybots off.
Only to those that have delved deeply into his record. In other words, not very many people at all.
Straight inside dope on Sarah Palin's intentions, read it in the Washington Post. Right.
[right way right] Im starting to think shes running for V.P.
No, I think she's in it to win it, and she is doing a late-entry strategy very deliberately. Takes guts doing that because Fred Thompson was forced to do that by contractual obligations to NBC in the last cycle and his effort collapsed for lack of money (the available money having been already spread around among the contenders). He ended up showing up for a South Carolina pre-primary debate in a taxi.
It's risky, she could conceivably end up getting hosed like Fred, but I'm guessing she calculates that she could still attract small-contributor help sufficient to overcome the early-money exhaustion Fred encountered.
Besides, early money in GOP primaries is sugar-daddy RiNO money, going by old news stories about donor reports from the FEC.
"Us"? Who's "us", Kemos Sabay? Last I saw, you were right in the middle of "this mess" up to your armpits, babbling as happily as Grace Slick's Lather, making mountains that look like bumps, and thrashing the air with your hands. </lyrics>
"Hey Rick .... what did you talk to the Bilderbergers about? What did they tell you to do? Was it the same this last time around as in 2007? How long ago did they pick you for next GOP POTUS? They giving you money?"
Four more years of obama and we’ll never be able to roll back the damage.
For the first time this morning it looks to me like she is running. She knows that once she declares she will need a ton of personal security and now has been her time to get out and meet the people. She also knows that when she declares it will be big news and will dominate the coverage. The 10th anniversary of Sept. 11 is coming and my thought is she would not want to distract from it nor take away any coverage. So I think she is waiting for those 2 reasons and I would not be a bit surprised if she announces on Sept. 12. And being true to her work she will do it on that local radio show in Alaska. Maybe a call in from a historic spot.
I’m liking the idea of Palin/Perry or Palin/Ryan. Romney would do good in a cabinet spot, maybe Sec. of Commerce.
If that’s all you want, ask the admin moderator to take your commentary out of the title!
My feeling is that if she runs but doesnt win the nomination, she will support whomever is the nominee, but my gut tells me that she will not take up a VP offer (been there, done that).
I’d bet she would take the VP spot again, if with Perry. Regardless of all the Perry Derangement Syndrome junk, Palin and Perry are pretty much on the same page and seemed to bond nicely.
If Palin doesn’t run in 2012 then she can forget 2016, even if Obama wins. She just does not have a sustainable power base to wait 4, or especially 8 years. If she wants the presidency then it’s now or never.
After her experience in 2008, I don't think she's going to want to play 'second fiddle' to anyone else again. Especially someone like 'wheeler dealer' Perry. It's one thing to support your Party for the Presidency if she doesn't get the nomination, it's another thing to buckle to that person's entire political agenda. I just don't see her doing it. I have said this before, and I'll say it again, and I know it upsets a lot of people, but I believe that Perry is a 'phony conservative'. All he cares about is "Perry", he doesn't come across as a 'man of the people', he rails against WA DC, but he's out there wheeling and dealing with power brokers and high rollers. Sorry, I'm sick and tired of those people. They don't represent "ME"! /rant
Obviously you first thought anything about Perry when he was thinking of running earlier this Summer. Otherwise you would not be mis-informed about his conservatism or man of the people, unless you know zero about Texas politics or Texas conservatives.
Want to admit it or not, Perry has been re-elected twice by stronger conservatives than Floriduh ever had. And like it or not THAT is what counts most.
Those rose colored Palin glasses are filtering out facts and truth (and unlike most Perry bashers here, I think you may honestly be for Palin). Perry bashers are only fooling themselves, nothing can cover the truth and thankfully the rabid PDSers on FR are not really what will influence enough Primary voters to matter.
“You and many other PerryBots are in almost EVERY Palin thread trashing her to Mars and back!”
Now that’s a lie I won’t let pass. I am strong both for Perry and Palin and I have not seen one single Palin thread where anyone supporting Perry has run down Palin.
Show us a link or STFU.
The more common word is "billionaire".
Hey look Hobbes, your insane conspiracy theory has gone semi-mainstream.
Congrats.
She'd have to ask Perry's owners very nicely, and see if it was all right with them .....
But she's too strong and straight a woman to crawl and cringe like that.
I call them "The Rickrolled"
