Sarah Palin stirs the pot but doesnt announce By Jennifer Rubin Sarah Palin didnt announce her candidacy for president Saturday at a Tea Party gathering in Iowa. But she did complicate matters for front-runner Texas Gov. Rick Perry, suggesting an actual strategy may be at work: If Perry stumbles, she might get into the race. But dont bet on it.
Mitt Romney and Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) might want to sent Palin some flowers. She did an enormous favor for them in making the argument against crony capitalism, one of the most potent arguments against Perry. As this report observed:
Were celebrating red, white and blue America! she began her speech, amid the sounds of cheering and what sounded suspiciously like a vuvuzela. After painting a dire picture of the American economy as it stands today, she railed against President Obama: Is this what you call winning the future? I call it

That is really a silly statement because "late" fall doesn't occur until Thanksgiving or after, which is late November. Prior to November you are talking about "early" fall.
REad her NH speech. She’s in.
Palin said, "I detest crony capitalism." Perry's middle name is crony capitalism. Do the math.
She may end up endorsing him if he defeats her for the nomination because she's a good Republican and believes in "anybody but Obama". But Perry fans hoping for a full-throated endorsement like she gave him for governor stand to be disappointed. It'll likely be a polite and perfunctory endorsement like Reagan gave Ford in '76.
Your response is not “RARE RARE” at all, but demonstrates reasonable and common sense. That being the case, what is it about Perry, given his “no fence” and “in-state tuition” positions, that’s so appealing as opposed to Palin?
Agree. In the end if she choose not to run, the disappointment and backlash will be palpable.
We're of similar mind on this. Contrary to the conventional wisdom on this thread, I don't buy the idea that Perry has a clear path to the nomination. Perry has many issues that risk slow-bleeding him throughout the campaign. The man's been in the race for 3 flippin' weeks. It's an eternity in politics until the first votes are cast. The irritation with Palin's entry into the race will be a dusty memory in a couple months. Gardasil, crony capitalism, career politican, and open borders, will, however, still be very much alive as issues.
In an effort to be fair, I think Rick Perry could be a tough chick, too.
“as long as he (Perry) doesn’t stumble over the next couple of months”
What if Palin decides that Perry’s positions are unacceptable or that there is significant doubt that he’s electable? Those will the basis of her attitude toward Perry.
My problem with supporters of other candidates here on FR is that a lot of them (NOT ALL) either are: totally ignorant of what is going on involving Sarah Palin and/or they are deliberately pushing false narratives about Sarah Palin in a wishful thinking way
For example:
1. It was debunked this year by Sarah Palin herself who talked to an reporter in AZ that she had no plans “whatsoever” to pursue any political office in AZ. Yes, she bought a second home through an LLC in Scottsdale but many including the vile leftist Politico surmised that it was the perfect place to have a Presidential base in the lower 48 to run (AK is too far away to base a Presidential run if she chooses to run)
Now all of this has been posted on FR for quite awhile but we still get posters claiming or wishing she is going to run in AZ
2. Sarah Palin was asked months ago publicly by a reporter would she tell these hundreds of Organizers4Palin volunteers to quit working for her (tirelessly, spending their life savings) to organize especially in Iowa for her. Palin said NO!
The reporter afterwards said that if Palin wasn’t going to run, she would have some serious questions to answer and its certain that her “cheerleading” career afterward would be over since she led many people on believing that she was thinking seriously about running and that it took such a long time to decide and allowed people to go broke for her.
Mind you that just this past Friday at a restaurant that Palin sat there while the coordinator of Organizer4Palin in IA stood there in front of her and gave a short speech to the crowd about how “when she gets in the race”...blah..blah..blah. She’s still leading people on who are spending months and their own money for her this late? she has to be the most evil woman out there
This column by Rubin illustrates perfectly why Palin will wipe the floor with Perry and any of the other candidates.
Palin has successfully painted Perry as the crony-capitalist that he is without spending a dime. All the major media outlets reported it and are analyzing it.At the same time she lambasted Obama. This without having officially entered the race yet!
Sarah Palin is a political genius, her instincts are dead on and your boy doesn’t stand a chance.
Rock solid executive experience (first and foremost). Solid social stances, and particularly with a 10th amendment touch to it. No material “flip flopping” on (critical) issues. Tort reform. A decent (not stellar) stance on taxes and spending.
All of these points screamed out loud yes to me, especially given the rest of the crop of candidates. I studied his immigration record and felt “comfortable” enough to say it is a “Texas specific” policy he promoted. Of course, I will watch him closely on this issue on the national stage and stomp on him if he veers.
If Palin was similarly a full-term plus Governor with solid executive record, I would have been all for her. Simply not the case. And, she turned into (whether her fault or not) into this lighning rod that will find it very hard to turn more people into conservatives - I believe.
Perhaps Sarah Palin should support the candidate that rushed out to defend her when the evil libtards and the media blamed her for the AZ shootings.
Don’t get me wrong, as a candidate, I want Palin to attack Perry from EVERY conceivable angle possibe, including as a crony capitalist. That would a perfect thing to do. She can lead her every utterance with that statement.
I am not oblivious to the fact that Perry veered off the “market principles” when he established the Texas innovation fund. It is a fundamentally flawed concept. I am looking forward to explaining that, apologizing for it, and commiting to never ever doing such stupid thing at the national level.
No worries. In a real campaign, all this comes out and should. The problem is when someone takes jabs from the side before becoming a candidate. No different than Rove taking shots at Palin.
But that is OK. In the long run, they just lose support as well as respect, when they dominate the Perry threads, hijack them into a Perry/hate fest and make themselves look like the mean spirited demagogues they truly are.
I still firmly believe that Palin will not enter the race. She will come up with a similar excuse for not running, resembling her reason for quitting her Gubernatorial position. Hopefully her following will not effect the outcome of this election. So far, they have had a minimal effect and Perry is still gaining momentum. Which illustrates that this rabid bunch is a very small minority.
Was the writer born yesterday? Some of you as well?
Mitt has NO CHANCE. Conservatives won't nominate him
Bachmann (I love her) is a back bencher.
Palin knows this. Why waste her bullets on non targets? Perry is her only real opposition.
Oh, by the way, she IS running.
WOW you must be an inner circle advisor to Palin to KNOW what she will and will not do.
Might be a good idea to preface such conjecture as MWT (my wishful thinking).
No different than Rove taking shots at Palin.

Rove the turd blossom is a potential candidate?
I had no idea.
Well BT, I have to say maybe “I have been a bit too harsh”, your post was quite throught provoking and insightful on Ms. Palin.
I previously wanted very much for her to jump in, with all the maybe yes, maybe no, I am not so sure. Palin definately has the magnetism to draw lots of voters. Now I would like to have her and Perry team up on an unbeatable by nobama or even hiltery, plus get a lot accomplished reversing the liberal trainwreck.
I'm going to hope, until shown otherwise, that your self-description as anti-Palin merely means that you have a candidate you prefer, and will vote for in the primary-- not that you have policy differences with SP that would prevent you voting for her in the General should she run.
Right, more embellishment/exxageration from a Palin drone. What's new?
