“There’s a follow up with candidates at townhall.com.”

Boy, are they thorough. This kind of forum will help us know the candidates more than any other forum, or debate!

Perry made a huge mistake in not coming to this. I am a Perry supporter, but this reeks and sort of reminds me of McCains suspending his campaign.

I love this format by the way.

The whole panel was superb. Those who did not participate missed a great showcase opportunity.

Bachmann blew me away in this style of forum.

I am a Perry man, but in my opinion Bachmann just stepped back into a serious contender position with this performance.

I’d have liked to see Palin, Perry, Santorum and even Huntman in this format.

I agree. Bachmann really stepped up here. Very sharp.

I agree. Totally inexcusable for Perry to bail on this at the last moment. Unless he is holding a water hose somewhere in Texas today personally helping put out fires he was pretty lame to cancel attending this GREAT forum, and really missed an opportunity to put this thing away early.

My thoughts
Bachmann blew me away
Cain impressed me again
Paul same lovable nut as always
Gingrich did well
Romney twisted and turned, bobbed and weaved, and came across badly

But the real loser is Perry for not coming.

He had no choice. As governor his duty is to the people of Texas.

As much as I'd love to have seen Perry in this format, I cannot disagree more strongly. It would be inexcusable him to have stayed in SC.

I notice you didn't count Palin as a loser. She was invited.

One can only hope that this American Principles Project forum sets a new standard for how presidential candidates will be interviewed hereafter.

The old standard has long since become more a circus than serious questioning of those to whom we might turn over the keys to the White House and the most powerful job on Earth.

As a fellow ‘newzjunkey’ I am as excited as I’ve been in years watching a political program. Now, let’s see the rest.

Ah, my AG is on now, Ken Cuccinnelli

I think that's a good summary. When can we get Obama in this format? /s

Wednesday's debate with Politico and MSNBC will be vastly different and far less informative.

Perhaps, but there will be plenty more debates to judge Perry by starting on Wednesday night in the highly publicized dabate with NBC. That’s where everyone will be watching. Now if he skips that debate, it could look bad.

This forum today was not highly publicized and most people didn’t even know about it or watch it.

Not fair to compare it to Mccain suspending his campaign.

Snow White needs to join this type of forum. This forum would have been a great place to start. Speeches in front of crowds that like you are fine, but Snow White needs to prove she can stand a test such as this in front of colleagues who wnt specifics that rally speeches don’t require.

I would not call the participants dwarves. They had the guts to actually enter the race and take the criticism and scrutiny as declared candidates.

All of those who participated are better than Obama.

Palin isn't running, so how can she lose something she isn't competing in.

I can show you a disaster picture for each and every day of the year, there is always something bad going on somewhere, Texas is a big state. He should of gone first, and then left to come back and deal with it, as he was offered.

I love Perry, and he is my #1 choice at the moment, but in my opinion he needed to be at this debate. He needs to EARN my continued support by performing well against his competition in a debate to solidify my support for good. He does amazing in other formats, but I want to see him next to others, and I would of especially liked to have seen him in this particular debate, because something about this format appealed greatly to me and really allowed me to judge the supple differences between the candidates that a normal sound bite/ buzzer/ gotcha question debate never does.

‘Glad to do it. It was an intriguing format.
No “Coke or Pepsi” or single “gotcha” question asked.”

Even Fox News disappointed many of us last time.

And thank you again for those great posts!

“Bachmann blew me away in this style of forum.”

She’s on my short list. I liked her on Face the Nation, too. She’s super smart, and super classy.

“Bachmann really stepped up here. Very sharp.”

Rasmussen has her ahead of Romney.

After this debate, she might be even more ahead of Romney.

This forum was the best I have ever seen

Agree. I hope the networks are taking notes. Sadly though, they like to make the debates more about them than the candidates. Fox included.
