Imagination is the key tool missing in the political arena.
Immigration policy, especially, suffers from a lack of creative solutions and imagined possibilities for a better future, not just for immigrants but for all of us. The undocumented population recently was estimated at approximately 12 million. However, no one knows for sure how many there are in the United States. By definition, the undocumented are unrepresented in our political process, but also in our census. There is no way to accurately count them. There is no way for them to forcefully represent themselves, their interests or to communicate their political will unless citizens and advocates do it for them.
This lack of imagination is starkly illustrated by recent proposed legislation - for example, the so-called HALT Act, aimed at stripping immigrants of some forms of discretionary relief, as well as overreaching state legislation, which aims to tighten restrictions on noncitizens and their families by making it easier to question, detain and deport them. The alternative (not yet imagined in the minds of legislators or the public) is to address the salient question: How do we utilize the talents of the millions who have been relegated to the shadows? Imagine tapping into the creative energies and ideas of these people, bringing them from the shadows to the forefront of our economy and society, educating and empowering them so they can serve as future leaders and engines of empowerment to others and engines for our teetering economy.

Compare that to the official unemployment number of around 14 million. We could achieve a near zero unemployment number if it weren’t for the illegals. (an actual zero rate is technically impossible without forced labor)

Bachmann has a very acceptable record on Immigration and border control. Numbers USA gives her a B- which is far above the big ticket RINOs.
There is nothing to appeal. They are foreigners who violated our laws. They get deported. They also should be forever banned from ever returning to this country for any reason for the rest of their lives. That is all that needs to be done.
There is no need to make it a big issue out of getting rid of a few million illegals.
Now, coming up with that idea required imagination!

A simple reversion to the former rule will eliminate the backlog of appeals. Clever reassignment of a number of Leftwingtard judges to choice overseas sites will keep it that way.

They have to get themselves admitted to the colleges and universities on their own, but they get the lower rate.
It's not enough to look at Texas ~ look at all those other states where the illegals are slipping in.

I think that's how it is all across the country. They're not being encouraged to "assimilate", at all. They're being catered to with every printed matter, all across the country. Heck, one national chain store I was at recently even paged the specials in espanol...just to make sure it was heard by all :(

More college slots for US citizens
Less time in medical waiting rooms
Less crime
Less “push 1 for Spanish”
Less water usage during this drought
Less garbage = less landfills

If you had read the article and been able to comprehend it, you would see that the author is neither endorsing Perry nor claiming that Perry endorses the author's ideas. He is ASKING Perry to endorse his ideas. A very big difference. Are we going to start tarring every candidate with the crazy ideas he/she is ASKED to endorse, whether or not they actually do? Because if so, I'm sure I can find a few ideas that Sarah and Michelle have been asked to support that we would find objectionable. Let's associate them with those ideas as well...

Yes, I've always wanted to ask these open border advocates, even the ones who want mass immigration but legally, just how many people should we have in the US?

Surely they must have a limit so when we reach that limit what should we do? Obviously they would have to agree you have to have strict enforcement once even their limit is reached.
So they're being completely dishonest.
I myself thought 200 million was enough. Now we have over 300 million and nearly 2 million more via immigration will come this year, and the next, and the next after that.
Plus we haven't increased the size of the House of Reps. since 1912 so we have the worst representation ratio in our history.
Nobody ever talks about that. I don't think a million to one representation was what the founders had in mind.
Excuse me? I have never been an unqualified supporter of Perry. Every time I’ve jumped into one of these threads, it’s been to debate facts. Perry’s record on immigration is not as black-and-white as many are trying to make it.
This is an endorsement of Perry's policies by any sane standard. It's you who needs reading comprehension assistance.
As governor, he embraced and supported the Texas Dream Act, which is currently in force in our state. The Texas Dream Act permits qualified undocumented immigrants to pay low in-state tuition. In contrast to the proposed federal Dream Act, the state version does not provide a path to citizenship. It does, however, importantly protect these young people from being barred from a much needed education, so long as they have lived in our state for three years and have a high school diploma or GED degree. As Perry has stated accurately, "To punish these young Texans for their parents' actions is not what America has always been about."
Perry's an illegal alien enabler. Period. No amount of obfuscation is going to cover this up.
For a great many of us on FR this is an absolutely uncompromisable deal breaker. No amount of his groupies' shrill pleading and arguing is going to change that.

Yes it is. He has personally signed legislation that was specifically designed to be an enabler to illegal aliens.
