Pelosi Statement on President Obamas Joint Session Address on Jobs August 31, 2011
Washington, D.C. Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on President Obamas remarks urging Congress to pass clean extensions of the Surface Transportation Bill and the Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization and create jobs rebuilding our nations infrastructure. Later, the White House announced that the President will roll out his jobs agenda before a Joint Session of Congress:
President Obama made a clear, strong statement today about Americas top priorities: creating jobs and strengthening our economy. And with an address before a Joint Session of Congress next week, the President will give renewed urgency to the jobs crisis facing our nation.
Democrats have heard the concerns and demands of the American people, and that is why we have offered plan after plan for putting people back to work. But after 239 days, the Republicans who are running the House have yet to offer any serious jobs legislation, while opposing every Democratic effort to create jobs.
We will work with President Obama to create jobs rebuilding Americas roads, bridges, rail lines, and airports, and to establish an infrastructure bank to finance these projects. We call upon Speaker Boehner, Leader Eric Cantor and the Republican majority to end the rhetoric and get to work getting America back to work. We can start by passing clean extensions of the FAA and highway bills, protecting nearly one million jobs. And we stand with the President in urging federal agencies to expedite infrastructure projects already funded by Congress.
Foregone conclusion, eh, b-i-itch?
There, fixed it.
He picked a bad day to give up the Kools.
Republicans should say it’s just more of the same old crap. Just say we don’t need another telepromter campaign speech, send a plan in writing.
So, it's only those nasty old Republicans who aren't being "bipartisan", is that it?
Pouring more money in the union pensions.
Pray for America
How about a Democratic budget?
Oh, none.
We will work with President Obama to create jobs rebuilding Americas roads, bridges, rail lines, and airports, and to establish an infrastructure bank to finance these projects.”
Only government make work need apply. No private jobs, ever, from these stupid marxiat creeps.
what's the problem Nancy? unemployement is below 7%? right?
The Republicans should tell him you are welcome to come but no teleprompters. And that he has to set aside an hour for questions from the floor.
And all part of the agenda to make conservatives look unreasonable and uncooperative.
Green jobs, blah, blah, blah, millionaires and billionaires, blah, blah, blah gimme money, blah, blah.blah, worse than expected, blah.blah.blah,exit stage left.
What kind of bump do you think the Manchurian Candidate is going to get from this totally unjustified joint-session of Congress and free television time? My guess is 4-8 points improvement in approval for maybe a week.
Obama has mastered the art of the one hour bump. His handlers fly him from the golf course to the messaging area or the crisis area once the crisis is over. He proceeds to take credit for the sun coming out. Receives applause and a poll bump. Next day the reality that of this miserable economy he created rains on his parade again.
Does she know she’s no longer the speaker. Why doesn’t she just shut up. Has Boehner make a comment yet?
I liked Boehner’s dismissive line when Obama announced he will make an important jobs speech around Labor day.We have had enough job speeches from you, Mr President. You do not need a podium. Mail it in.
Pure dribble, gotta puke now...
