If I lived in Alaska I’d spend summers panning for gold. Gold fever is always close to my surface, so I do garage sales for treasurers. About 18 years ago on my first trip to Alaska, one of the port of calls had a side trip in panning for gold...My daughter and myself took it...Found a few flecks in the stream (cold stream and about 10 degrees’ colder than the rocks we had to climb down...The guy was a young fellow with small kids and quite funny...he told the story about him thinking he was taking his young boys too often when one of them started to swirl his bowl of cheerio’s at breakfast like it was a gold pan and he was looking for gold.... :O)

Love the story about the swirling Cheerios...the streams do tend to be quite cold.
