You're pushing a Bush clone. Yes I know there is friction between the Bush folks and the Perry team. The fact remains.

"Bush clone" and a RINO:

Background:

Perry's story as told by him to the Texas Monthly

The son of tenant farmers from Paint Creek…

…who became an Airforce officer, married his high school sweetheart and went on to become the longest serving governor in Texas history

On the Fed:

Perry would consider Bernanke printing more money "almost treachorous, or treasonous."

Perry refuses to apologize for remarks on Bernanke.

Perry advocates audit of the Federal Reserve.

Economy:

Over the past 5 years, Texas has created more jobs than all other states combined.

Perry against raising debt ceiling.

Wants to scrap the federal income tax by repealing the 16th amendment

Perry calls for 6 month moratorium on government regulations.

Supports balanced budget amendment.

Since June 2009, 37% of all jobs created in the entire U.S. were created in Texas.

First governor since WWII to reduce general revenue spending – by $3 billion using line item veto.

Cut billions in property taxes

Cut taxes on small business and instituted tort reform

”Texas isn't just the fastest growing... it's growing over twice as fast as the second fastest state and three times as fast as the third. “

Guns:

”Perry’s pro-gun resume reads like something the late Charlton Heston would have been proud of… strongly supports the individual right to gun ownership and the subsequent right to use guns in self-defense.”

"Card carrying" member of the NRA

Fun video: Perry takes Andrew Breitbart and a bunch of bloggers to the range.

Perry has a permit to carry a concealed firearm

Perry Signs Legislation Protecting Texas Workers’ Right to Self-Defense

NRA Endorses Perry in Governor's Race.

Rick Perry's speech at the NRA convention

Perry carries a laser sighted .380 loaded with hollow points.

While jogging, Perry shoots and kills threatening coyote with one shot

Press: Are you packing heat? Perry: No comment, "that's why it's called 'concealed.'"

Supports campus concealed carry.

Military:

Perry spent 4 years active duty (not Reserve or Nat'l Guard) as an Airforce pilot.

Left Airforce with the rank of Captain

Was in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M

Opposes the repeal of "Don't Ask Don't Tell."

Lifetime member of the American Legion.

Troops should be commanded only by American commanders and military not subject to “international debating societies.” No “military adventurism.”

Social Issues:

Supports constitutional amendments against abortion and for one-man, one-woman marriage amendments.

Opposes gay marriage, opposes special protection for homosexuals in workplace and housing, opposes the repeal of DADT

Pushed bill for ultrasounds before abortions and pro-life license plates

Abortion should be made illegal

Signed the Susan B. Anthony pro-life/anti-abortion pledge.

Properly defines contemporary evolution as a “theory.”

Signs anti gay marriage pledge

Education:

Perry behind removal of left-wing textbooks from Texas schools.

Texas home schoolers endorse Rick Perry

Perry speaks at home school rally

Perry refuses $700 million in Obama education funds because of federal mandates

Perry seeks major reform of higher education

Fought for school vouchers.

Etc…

Perry rejects global warming - science skewed by financial interests.

''Called Al Gore a “false prophet of a secular carbon cult…" lol

According to the New York Times “Mr. Perry has been at war with the E.P.A. almost since the day he took office as governor.”

Perry signs anti-eminent domain bill protecting Texas property owners.

"I'll work every day to try to make Washington, D.C., as inconsequential in your life as I can."

TX Gov. Rick Perry Reintroduces TSA Anti-Groping Bill

Advocated for and eventually signed a stringent voter ID law

Perry pushes anti-sanctuary city law

Slams food stamps and government subsidies.

Karl Rove and the Democrats desperate to stop the Rick Perry posse

Would repeal Obamacare.

Rick Perry never lost and election.

Among trial lawyers, “there is no presidential candidate who inspires the same level of hatred – and fear – as Perry”

Considers the federal income tax “the greatest milestone on the road to serfdom”

Perry has overseen more executions than any governor in modern history.

Wants to end the federal ethanol mandate.

"It is a Ponzi scheme for these young people. The idea that they're working and paying into Social Security today, that the current program is going to be there for them, is a lie," Perry said. "It is a monstrous lie on this generation, and we can't do that to them."

In other words, you have nothing to dispute the trends, just your distrust of polling in general. Okay, noted. But doesn’t that make your posting on the subject meaningless? If you cannot offer anything more substantial than your “feeling” about polls, why bother posting on the subject at all?

You forgot that as Governor, Ronald Reagan enacted a massive tax increase and signed what turned out to be the nation’s most permissive abortion law. In 1978, Reagan helped defeat Prop 6, which would’ve barred gays from teaching in public schools. And for those getting spun up on the TTC, NAFTA was Reagan’s idea.

Ronald Reagan is still my favorite President and the gold standard for conservative candidates. But, let’s remember his actual record.

—Wow, people seem to be dropping Romney in droves once they got someone else they viewed as electable.—

You just nailed the whole thing in a single sentence. Romney’s done. It happened remarkably fast this time.

You persist in applying labels to folks that you have little or no real knowledge about.

Moderate? By who’s standard?

I am a native Texan who has been VERY active in political circles there for more years than you have likely been alive! I have watched Rick Perry’s career from the very beginning! When he was a democrat state representative he was FAR more conservative than Mitt Romney has EVER been and he has learned a damn site more since then! He is, in my estimation leaps and bounds ahead of EVERY other candidate out there with the possible exception of Herman Cain who has absolutely zero chance of getting the nomination!

Is Rick Perry perfect? NO! Not by a damned site! He IS however going to be the next president of the United States and you might as well get used to the idea!

You stated the obvious about this poll and people are still doubting e pol calling it dem manufactured all because Palin is not in it or doing well. I recall many of these same polls that were not name called way back when Palin did well on one of them. The hypocrisy is so blatent.

We are not ignoring the bad stuff about Perry. We are quite familiar with it. We just don’t give a ****. The good far, FAR outweighs the bad.

The problem with people that have experience is that they don't agree with me 100%.

What we need is someone new, someone fresh. Maybe clean, articulate young Senator who says everything I want to hear, but without any kind of pesky 'record' that would confuse me with facts. Someone who I could hope will change things in the way that I would.

My moral sensibilities for the perfect candidate are very sensitive, you know. I just can't handle information that I don't like, so the less of a record a candidate has, the better. Let's make it happen, people! It's never happened before, ever, and we could be the ones to make it happen! We could be the ones we we've been waiting for!

He’s conservative enough for Texas but somehow he’s not supposed to be conservative enough for some schlub from a blue town in a blue county in a blue state?

The real questions that you need to be asking are;

“What’s wrong with Texas?”

“How can they not see what you clearly do?”

“How in Gods’ name could the patron saint of all things conservative, Sarah Palin give him such a ringing endorsement?”

I don’t pretend to know but I agree with you, Palin is preparing to endorse Perry. We will see soon enough.

I love Sarah Palin and would be happy to see her run. But this is my observation.

It is my hope that if she doesn’t run, she will campaign hard and well for the nominee and get a great cabinet position. That would be awesome.

If any of these Perry polls are correct..then there should be more than about 6 or 7? people repeatedly posting in favor of Perry in FR.
Nearly one third of FR posters should be commenting in favor of Perry?

Conservatism remains the same for me year after year, decade after decade.

I don’t change my definition so that I can support the latest flavor of the day.

In 1988 I wasn’t supporting Democrats.

In recent years I haven’t supported massive government projects.

I haven’t opted to take 70,000 acres from my citizens, rather than improve current rights of way.

I haven’t said I support open borders.

I haven’t said I don’t want a fence or wall on our border.

I haven’t pushed for in-state tuition for the children of illegal immigrants.

I haven’t stated that I would have a hard time sending long term illegal immigrants back to Mexico.

I haven’t tried to force women to take a new vaccine, one that seems to have killed over 100 girls, and cause immune deficiency problems for thousands of others.

This guy does not get it. There’s no way I will support this man for the presidency.

If this represents my being doughy not only to you, but everyone other than myself, I can live with it.

snicker, from the state that gave us lord McCain and prince Lindsey Graham. Now I will give them credit for DeMint.... but they in majority should have sent McCain's sidekick out to make his own living.

Here, here’s the stuff we’ve been supporting for the last decade here. /s
