We live in TriBeCa, right on the edge (but inside) of Flood Zone A. There’s a chance the storm surge plus the high tide might flood my neighborhood.
To my wife’s objections, we bugged out last night to our home in Dutchess County, which is less than 90 miles north of NYC.
I’ve slowly built a post 9/11 compound with food, water and supplies. The few people I have told about my planning think I’m a fringe character. Let’s see if they’re right.
There is nothing wrong with being prepared for the worst!
Would you like to have guests this weekend? ;)

I wish I had the extra space or property to do what you’ve been doing. What you’re doing is simply common sense - all the more so that you live in an urban area.
