Rush really needs to get his hands on the audio..it was hysterical!

Meanwhile..the folks on Atlantic Beach might be in real danger as CNN just showed the water rushing through there draining from some sound nearby(don’t know the geography that well to give better info).

He said the Pamlico Sound is almost empty.

That is because it has all been blown up river towards Washington, NC. That is where the Pamlico river narrows and becomes the Tar river. The inlets can't let in enough water to catch up. As soon as the eye passes, it will all get blown back into the sound. This is good because all the rain runoff will be coming down the Tar river to the Pamlico.

I grew up there. When I was a teen, we had sustained, strong westerlies for a week. It blew all the water out of the river. Except for the dredged channel, you could drive a car across the mile wide river.

I know. Losing power is not fun, but it’s better than having trees down on our house and car, which has happened in the past. One of our neighbors had a tree crew in yesterday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM taking down some huge oaks that were hanging over his house.

“There is sand all over the beach”...LOL..no kidding!

Sounds like a Pentagon briefing I once heard, "We're not expecting any more surprises."

Lovely setting! Our house is similarly situated among trees. We also have a creek in the back, which always worries me with these storms. Fortunately, we’re close to the origin and it’s never risen high enough to threaten the house.

High speed winds forced through the Canyons of NYC skyscrapers will actually accelerate...it’s the same as when a narrow river channel is flooded..the water goes faster..

Thanks, Pen...Upper East Side, Manhattan. Was out early for food and wine shopping with the crowds...it’s just starting to pour. Went to the health food store at 8:30, in comes some nutty lady with her dog in a carriage asking—do you sell batteries here? Only in NY. :)

I’m here in Delaware about 14 miles from the ocean...it’s raining here, light breezes.

Thought it was a fluke at first but it looks like it’s settled in and comfortable.

We’re battened down. Church sent out email....NO MASS THIS WEEKEND.

I will pray and remind God that hurricanes were HIS idea.

Jus’ sayin’.

Oh...that’s right! I remember you talking about the Christmas trees on the sidewalks last Christmas. Stay safe. Hopefully it won’t get too bad there but you are smart to prepare for whatever may happen. The wine is a real good idea! Keep us posted!
