Approximately 65 million people are likely to be directly impacted by Hurricane Irene as the storm takes aim at the densely populated Eastern Seaboard. Evacuations are underway for high flood risk areas.
Mass transit cancellations, schedule changes and road/bridge closures are occurring throughout the storm warning areas. Please check with local news and Emergency Management Operations to determine the recommendations for your immediate area.

“No, the media did NOT hype this storm too much”
Not anywhere near the storm area but agree with you. The entire affected coastline got the bad side of the storm as far as surge. That along with the heavy rains is devastating. Most look at the winds and think no big deal though
I may have heard wrong.....you all stay safe!!!
No generator, nutmeg. Never lost power.
It appears Irene is finally done with us and now we must await dawn for the damage assessments.
You take care and stay safe as she heads for you.
(((((Hugs))))
Just now joining this thread. My family has turned in but I can’t sleep. I’m in Central New Jersey in the Raritan river valley with clay soil and the rain is unrelenting. No wind.
We have power and have everything prepared.
We emptied out the basement of valuables and I am very happy to have found an old address book I was looking for. I thought it was long lost and now I was able to reconnect with an old friend, thanks to Irene. LOL!
It’s Ocean City, NJ ... right? Lots of info here. Left side of the page .. looks like the predicted swells are listed in that chart. I’m not good with numbers. HOpefully, you can decipher it ..

You keep me posted and we’ll do what we can for you. Charlie’s not as easily accessible as he used to be (thank goodness) but will do what he can to help when he can.
Beats the stress.Watching live coverage on action news.
Was wondering if you were still on here. Lot of power flickers but no long term power loss (yet) Things are quieting down here for now, kids are in bed. Apparently my county (St Mary’s MD) made the news cause we have a damn that could potentially fail(?) but that shouldn’t affect us. Starting to get sleepy here (the beer is helping)
“Indian Ocean Tsunami. We responded fast and large, and yet the slanderous and groupthinky vile liberal media claimed we were late and did less than others. They looked at promises of help, most of which failed to ever materialize. We actually rushed in to help immediately yet made few promises. Our carrier group was the first major relief on the scene.”
We and the Aussies were distributing relief to the victims and the U.N. was upset that U.S. and Aussie flagged copters were doing it.
Oh boy ... it’s so tough when your mind won’t let yu sleep. I’m about to get that little glass of wine I skipped earlier with my dinner snack .. ;) Hoping to try to zzzzzzzzzzz in a bit.
Thanks Gabz.
A dam could potentially fail, my spelling is affected and I’m not even halfway through the first beer LOL

nite nite.
stay dry and stay safe.
prayers with y’all.
Ok my power looks like it is now out for awhile. Love it that I have an iphone. Night all! Will check in in the morning. Hopefully the power will be back on.
nopardons was NOT referring to anything about the Delaware River flood data, but rather to another poster’s totally idiotic claims about the bloominidiot Mayor of New York.
LOL!!! Too funny. I’m debating about another drink or the pillow. I saved the last of the beer (I totally underestimated how much I should have stocked) for this late night FR watch............I think the beer and FR wins - at least for another little while :)
I’m hearing crickets outside the window - it has stopped raining. About danged time, Been raining for at least 23 hours.
